So, about how many people usually compete in each division?

Totally random in this business. I have been in pageants where there were as few as 3 in a division or as many as 47. There are a lot of factors. Publicity, whether or not the national pageant is suffering from scandal (such as American US is currently..), is the entry fee reasonable, is the location and date convenient to someone competing?

Usually divisions from teen and up get *bigger* as the age increases, I.E. Mrs. will be bigger than Teen most every time. I have planned on 5-10 in each division. I need 5 minimum to break even. Anything over 15 per division and I have to get a bigger venue or work some magic. Remember a lot of girls wait til the last minute, but they will suffer from not getting to make appearances, recruiting sponsors as soon, having as much time to prepare. Some will be pros and won't need much time to prepare because they compete a lot, but that does NOT determine the winner. A lot of people thought I would win Miss Galaxy this past year having years of competition behind me but I was a runner-up. It happens! :)

Don't worry, I doubt in our first year there will be hordes of people to compete against. I think it will make a very nice pageant experience, especially for first-timers and those wanting to learn pageantry.
