Just a general update about the banners.....my vendor is out of state and she does a lot of good work for us. Some potential contestants have asked me what the turn around time is and what they look like.

Be aware a lot of pageants do not even give you a local title or banner! So this is a very good bonus that the Galaxy system allows for this. Most systems in VA do not. Also, there is a local crown but it is $90 and you must order it directly from Lori's vendor. I do not provide these as the cost is prohibitive with a $495 entry fee.

It takes about 30 days to get your banner once you confirm (pay) the 50% of your total entry fee. Banners are ordered at the end of each month together to condense shipping costs from the midwest. They are bridal white satin with black satin borders and chain-stitched black cursive embroidery. They are easily the equal of many state banners I have seen.

Due to the amount of time it takes to get the order processed and back to me, do not book an appearance as a Galaxy queen until you get your banner! I have no way to predict if orders will come early or late and getting them directly shipped to contestants is not working out properly. So please take this into account. If you have an appearance in mind in the next month or so and you'd like to book as a Galaxy queen.....get the entry fee in to get your banner ordered. That's the simplest way to make the process go faster.

If you would like to see an example of the banners, we have some photos of Christy wearing hers on the appearances page. Also, more photos are coming from our other new queens! So check it out and see what you think!

Speaking form personal experience, I am really grateful for the banners and I really feel it makes a difference. It makes you feel like the money you are paying to enter is being used for the pageant and it's purposes. One particular pageant I know of charges almost a thousand dollars with ads, tickets and all that and you get NOTHING! Maybe a trophy, that's if you place, but otherwise you really wonder where your money went! So, I think this is a great plus to this pageant system and it's something you will have forever.

is that you get to enjoy being a titleholder rather than being just "at large" going in. I personally prefer that too, because it gave me an opportunity to make appearances and enjoy the boons of being a queen, even if just as Ms. Richmond or whatever. I had a lot more confidence about being worthy of competing by the time I actually got there. I also made friendships going in that have lasted since, so I felt confident when I got to the nationals (and for you guys, the state instead).

I am now entering other Mrs. pageants (I can't compete in Galaxy anymore.....wah!!!) and running into a totally different mindset. I respect other directors and what they choose to do but as a contestant myself, I prefer to feel like I had *some* recognition, even if it was just for coming in and having the courage to compete. I just wish they all saw it the same way....but hey, that's what makes us special!
