Ok, here's a question for all who visit this board. I am now working full time again as an insurance adjuster. An offer was made to me that I could not refuse that allows me to be home in time for my daughter from school so I accepted, since my family comes first. I of course will continue to run this pageant and still hope to grow it into a true full-time job of it's own!

Lori as many of you may know is running an online photo contest for her Teen contestants for a national entry fee. I have the option of doing this with the reserved Central Virginia titles for Teen/Miss/Mrs. I am considering doing an online vs. live prelim this first year due to my job time constraints and my own competition schedule.

I was thinking $50 to enter would be fair, and each entrant would receive her ad requirement free (1/4 page-$40) if she does not win, so she doesn't really lose the money if she still wants to enter the pageant. Same as Early Bird pretty much. We would judge based on photogenic entry (50%) and short essay answer (50%) to why they want to be "Teen/Miss/Mrs. Central Virginia". So interview and looks have an equal shot. Pretty basic.

As to those who have already entered, you will all have a BIG advantage making appearances towards the optional visibility awards that the prelim winners will not, since they wouldn't be announced til right before Christmas or so. So there's pro and con, but there's still an advantage to reserving the title you want to have rather than waiting if you want to go ahead and start representing your local area & securing sponsors, etc.

Does anyone have any input on this? I will be making a final decision soon, any suggestions?

I think that it sounds good. Especially since you are a busy lady and already have experience running an on-line pageant with American Majesty. You know what to do and it would be an opportunity for three ladies to come in who may be on the fence. Will it be clear that it is only for Central Virginia women? I could see the potential for confusion if that isn't stated. That's my only thought....

I think it's a great idea Autumn. I have to agree with Christy I can see some confusion if the Central VA entry is not made clear. You would have to clearly state what is Central VA...because everyone has their own ideas of what the state central part of the state is. I could also see people from other parts of the state being upset that they couldn't enter in the same fashion. I know it maybe a lot of work, but have you thought about offering regional titles(Western, Coastal, and South Western titles as well)?

I think online will do just as fine since you run A.M. so well. Just my thoughts. I know it will all work out well.

I will make sure to keep telling people about the program when I out& about.

off to pack for Chicago. Take care all.

want somethign different, say Coastal Virginia or Danville or such, then I will then offer the central Virginia title "at large" for entry after the contest is over. We can always go to a live prelim the 2nd or 3rd year and have those girls crown with our other local queens as guests later one....:)

Why not do it similar to what the national pageant is doing? Make it an online search and the winners get the local titles of their choice.
