Handmade, how wonderful for you. Of course I would never do such a simple basket. After Pesach I start grinding wheat for whole grain flour . My children have a homeschooling project growing grapes and stomping on them for the wine. They also go to the hen house and gather the organic eggs. In their penmanship class they write all of Megillat Esther on the eggshell in beautiful calligraphy.
Of course these are just some ideas of what I put in my basket. Because I gave birth to triplets this year (homebirth of course) and am still breastfeeding my previous 3 sets of twins and my grandchildren I am behind on weaving the cloth for my Matzo cover and Afikoman holder. By the time I finish with that it will be time to melt down bottle caps into Succah decorations.
And I am having such a hard time convincing my children give up one of their pet rams so we can make our own Shofar. Does anyone have any experience with the psychological ramifications of this?
I'd love to hear all your ideas.
