Author: Kynthia
Subject: The fivesome sat together, backs to the stone wall just outside the Hatching Grounds.

"So you think we'll actually Imprint this time around?" The first to speak was a girl who looked to be around seventeen Rotations old. Her auburn hair was layered around her face, offsetting felenoid greenish eyes that glanced at the others as she asked.

"Who knows, Kynthia? It's all up to the dragons..." the next to speak was also the only boy, Runian. He, too, was seventeen, almost too old to stand. His light, dusty brown hair fell into his gold-flecked eyes, and he irritably brushed the offending hair away.

Time after time, he and Kynthia had stood and failed. They'd gotten to know each other pretty well over the past two or three Rotations, joined along the way by the others, and the newest of their group, Coralie, who was only thirteen.

"The dragons choose. You're starting to sound like the Dranlingmaster," Ellery sighed. "I'm sixteen already, and there isn't much time left, you know."

"Don't remind me," Kynthia rolled her eyes, then paused to listen, "There's another one..." she said, referring to the eggs being laid.

"What do you think, Cor?" Cearah asked the youngest girl, blue eyes dreamy as she thought of the upcoming Hatching. It was still only going to be her second time trying to Imprint, and she still had high hopes.

Coralie merely shrugged. Small, dark, and silent, she was like a shadow- always there, but at the same time, almost nonexistant.

"Those Golan candidates were lucky..." Ellery leaned further back into the wall, tilting her head up to gaze at the ceiling, "fifty one dragonets that could've chose them, and a lot of them Clamons."

Runian mumbled some form of agreement, half lost in daydreams, and then silence overtook all five, as the gold continued to lay her eggs, just on the other side of that wall...
