Subject: Wednesday Night Acro Author: phlegmmy [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 12:41:43 08/20/04 Fri WEDNESDAY NIGHT ACRO A competitive new league for individual players The Concept Think along the lines of Pub Darts… We will be running a competitive acro league on Wednesday evenings over a period of 16 weeks. We are not associated with any of the current team leagues so entry is open to any individual player interested in playing a competitive “season” of acro. Each Wednesday a player will play 3 games of acro. Over 16 weeks, each style of acro (WC/GA/Bot Topics/Story) will be played 4 times each. During the weekly games players will accumulate points according to their finish that evening (first – 10 points, second - 8 points… through to fifth – 2 points). These standing points will be totaled towards post season play where the top 10 players from the season will play for the championship. A player’s top 12 finishes will be used towards their final standing. Players will need to commit to the league for the season. Where All games will be played in password protected rooms at AcroChallenge When Play will be every Wednesday beginning mid-September (actual date to be decided). Post season will follow on (to be decided). Following the playoffs, the top 5 players from clean play and adult play will be invited to play off to determine a dual champion. Clean play will begin at 8:30. Adult will begin at 10:00. Players are encouraged to make a night of it and play both. Entry fees There are no fees to enter and play, however even a nominal donation to AcroChallenge in appreciation for the use of the space would be appreciated Rules of Play All games will follow the currently accepted rules of play and scoring. The person winning FO will add 5 points to their total score before Face Off. A definition for each style of acro will be provided on the site. Rooms will be assigned weekly, at random. Players will sign up once for the season. With best 12 finishes being counted, entry will be open until (to be decided). That will allow late entrants to still get the required number of nights in. Players will be playing for themselves and will be asked to keep their own game logs. Each week two volunteers in each room will be asked to agree on the night’s scores and submit them with game logs for stat purposes. Standings will be updated weekly. Prizes will be awarded to the champions. *This is meant to be a casual, competitive, and fun league. We old timers all had a “home room” in acro and used to be able to look forward to dropping into CoffeeShop2, Hot Tub, Couch or Waterbed to see some friends and be guaranteed a fun evening of competitive and relaxed acro. There are regular player out there who don’t want to play team acro and team players who would like an opportunity to go out and find a good game outside of team play… here’s your chance. Meet your friends, make some new ones and have fun playing the game we love. All leagues are welcome to submit a blurb about themselves and a link to be posted on the site. Any enhanced interest in the game itself will benefit league play and all leagues are welcome. We would like to keep this as simple as possible and would like to see general ownership in the league. While we are in the process of dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s everyone has the opportunity to submit suggestions, they are more than welcome.
