Stunned beyond words, Kale had sort of just stopped in midstep with his eyes firmly planted upon her bitter expression. As she exited the room, he found that to his disbelief -- he was rooted to the spot. Minutes after she had left, his feet began to work again and he followed her, glad to be at a safe distance.
