that I've been damaged

She'd gotten the call late last night and rushed the kids over to her brothers before hurrying down here, hours later he was still asleep and she was curled up in the chair beside his bed, her fingers caught in his as she doses in a light sleep. Her dark hair curled around her face, a bruise scaring her delicate cheek, she looked drawn and shattered... things had gone from awful to worse
