Nothing wrong with young journalists being encouraged. They need that. There's plenty wrong with a professional implying student reporters would automatically outdo veteran reporters with decades of real-world experience. That level of skill is earned over time, through hard work. Smart student journos realize this and work at it, and they become the next generation of skilled veterans.

Yes, someone's on a high horse here, but it's not Megan's critics.

One other thing: the constant accusations of "bitterness" say more about the accusers than the accused.
