In reply to: Former DK Subscriber 's message, "Re: Can't give away a job covering the Pirates." on 09:05:10 08/19/17 Sat

DK, in his sensationalist haste to make a name for himself, wrote several articles he felt would expose the Pirates.
He attempted to highlight gross-mismanagement, misallocation of resources and incompetence in drafting and development.
But that wasn't the worse of it, DK needed to expose the psuedo-military environment faux-biker gang culturally structure the general manager and his scouts were creating.
DK even had the temerity to put into print the phrase "Hoka Hey", which was something like a secret code they used during their militaristic SEAL Team style training events. DK couldn't just stop there, no his ego wouldn't let him.

DK went well beyond that when he wrote how the Pirates organization conducted SEAL Team inspired "Hell Week" training events for their young prospects, forcing them out of bed at 2am, making them run long distances along the beach, fill garbage cans full of sand, drag the hundred pound cans a hundred yards, dump them out and do it all over again. Not to manage require their best young prospect at the time (Polanco) to participate with an already injured ankle that was re-injured during the training session.

When the article was published back in 2012 it instantly made the entire Pirates organization, to include their media backers, the laughingstock of baseball.

Now I'll ask, who wouldn't hold a grudge if DK did that to you?

But the Pirates got their revenge ten-fold just one year later when they made Johnny Cueto drop the ball that glorious night in 2013.
