On a fundamental level, yes, the system of ranks is decent, getting rid of GrailKnight an ok move since it means 1 less rank for a knight to have to go through in order to make it to KoRT which SHOULD mean more KoRT in the future. Unfortunately we loose the challenge of the quested item unless you incorporate it somewhere else. It was a neat little idea for an award. Anyways, problems I can see are as follows.
Page
No problems here, basically a renamed initiate.
Squire
You have it here that a squire trains themselves. I don't think that it is a good idea. I was working on training my squires number 5 and 6 when I was a KoRT and I noticed something about all of my squires from number 1 to number 6. When I first tested them on the rules, they thought they had nailed the test. They thought they were ready to take the actual knighting test after they answered my questions. Until I corrected them and they noticed that they had quite a few wrong. I was guilty of the same thing back in the day when I started as a squire. What is the point? Well, you are gonna have a lot of squires that are gonna ask for the knighting test whilst not really being ready for it. Either because they want to try and become knight as fast as they can or because they honestly think they are ready. This problem was not there when they were being trained by a knight. I believe that the training should continue to be in place.
Knight
Everything good here, except as mentionned above, I believe that they should still train squires.
Noble
Basically a High Knight, the step of Grailknight has been eliminated. Everything looks good here except the way that they "apply" for being a KoRT. High Knights used to be nominated for a position, usually by one or more KoRT. The High Council would discuss it in private to see if the idea should be released to the public or if the candidate was definately not worthy of the promotion. Then, once the High Council was in agreement, it would be posted on the MB for all members to vote on. If the vote was positive, which in most cases it was if it made it that far down the chain of command, then the promotion followed shortly after. Now, with the Noble stepping forward, if that Noble is not worthy, then you may have hurt feelings a lot faster when the vote comes out as no. You do not have that luxury of being secretive about the possibility of promotion. Even if the current KoRT were to secretly meet about this and decide before going to the public with it, the Noble would know that it was not approved by the KoRT if the promotion was denied since it was basically him that made the nomination. A secret nomination, as it was before, makes less chance of hurt feelings.
Knight of the Round Table
Basically the same, the only beef I had about the KoRT is that since Lord Sorcalisk decided to do away with all of the councils and do all the work himself, things have slowed down in the processes of Camelot. One man/woman cannot do the work that is required to maintain Camelot with any degree of speed. Even all 4 KoRT can get bogged down if something special comes up, such as the case of continuous troubles from exiles and troublemakers that we dealt with a couple of years back. I believe that the Knights and Nobles should take on smaller jobs as was done in the days where I was a knight so that the KoRT can actually get in some time to game as well.
Legend
With Noble being the new High Knight and Legends returning to rank of Noble if they come back from retirement, it's the same as always, looks good.
Basically that's it. A few things there you may want to discuss.
