Question:I have a Treo 650 that takes short video clips. They play
back just fine on the device. They play back but look bad on
my desktop. Windows Media Player (10.00.00.3802) will not
open the files. They are labeled 3GPP. Palm Desktop (4.1.4)
and QuickTime (6.5.1) and Real Player (10.5) play the file
but the top half of the screen is not a good picture and the
bottom of the screen is color blocks. What am I doing wrong? I can email you a screen shot of the problem on request.
    Thanks for any advice...

I'm a little concerned about the link to http://pocketgmail.com/ and that it could be a phishing site. It looks like it is from Poland. Does anyone have any
history or experience with this site? I entered my account name and password before I realized what I had done. Considering I store sensitive Palm backup files on gmail I quickly changed my password after I realized what I had done. This site doesn't offer any software for viewing gmail or your PDA. The only thing it seems to have that suggests it is legite is its pocketgmail.com address. I
don't have a Palm with browser access so I don't know this site looks when viewed on a PDA. How does the site appear on a Palm Browser? My two cents for what its worth. He does link to a SourceForge program which maybe should be linked instead.

    Hi everybody
I'm searching for a shareware developer group which exchange translation efforts. For example, I'm french and I can help other developers to translate their PalmOS shareware to this language. Maybe an Italian, Spanish or German developer need this help and could translate my shareware to its own language.

Do you know if a such community exists ?

If it does not exist, I think I will organize this community with English as pivotal language.
In this case, are there any other developers interested ?

    Thanks for your help.

If you use your Palm while on holiday I'd like to hear your story. I'm especially interested in experiences where you use your Palm to carry Ebooks, maps, travel guides or translation programmes.

Did your Palm ever get you out of a fix? Does it make travelling easier? I'd like to hear your story.

Yes, I agree killing the Clie is not good for us but I reckon Sony will be back, hopefully pretty soon too.

There have been a couple of comments regarding the poor state of Palm development and innovation (Hardware and software). However my question for everyone is, is there the possibility of Palm source with its move to Linux kernel likely to make the new Palm OS available for stand alone purchase for reflashing a PPC device. I know a number of Linux projects that have done this already (ipaq) and I think it would be very interesting. Not to mention the fact the PalmOne is looking at WindowsMobile for its products. It seems like the PDA industry is separating the OS and the Hardware in much the same way that the PC market already does. It seems like that could open up the market to users being able to use the device and OS they like.

    Author:

    [Edit]

    Date Posted: 03/01/05 Tue

I am considering upgrading to either a T5 or a Zodiac 2. I have some concerns about them and I was wondering if any other Palm users especially those that might have been able to compare the two could help answer a few questions.
    1. How well does a conveted video file (i.e. using Pocket DVD Stuido or similiar software) play on the T5 and Zodiac? Is there any noticeable lag in the video?
    2. I currently have a palmone TE and its processor is only 123mhz, is 200mhz on a Zodiac that much faster? It seems you would see a difference, but not as dramatic as a the T5's 400mhz+ processor. Any thoughts on this?
    3. Another processor power question: On a zodiac do programs run slow if you are listening to an mp3 in the background while using another program? My TE slows down quite abit when playing mp3s in the background. Many programs slow way down or freeze for a moment. IT IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING!!! :(
    5. The form factor: The zodiac2 is not your traditional PDA shape. Does this make it ackward to use when writing with your stylus or is it easier?

Any answers to these questions would really help. I think the zodiac is a great palm device and has quite a few options that many palmone users are looking for. IT seems odd that more people don't have one or we don't here much about them. Thanks Josh

I just got a Treo 650 and am interested in a couple of very nice leatther carrying cases which use magnetic latches. The manufacturers of these cases say that the magnets will NOT affect the phone, the SD cards or the bluetooth operation of the phone.

But I would think that prolonged exposure to the magnets would affect the phone. It's made out of metal afterall. I talked to Palm, but the rep I spoke to was unsure if these kinds of cases are ok or "not a good idea".

I am curious if anyone has had long term experience with phones and PDA's using magnetic latch cases and if they are truly harmless to the gear. I'd appreciate any quick feedback cause I want to get this case soon.

    Thanks

Amazingly enough, I have never owned a cell phone. As I look at buying a Treo 650 to upgrade my Palm PDA, the myriad of Cell phone carrier options is a bit overwhelming.

Any advice on how to pick a carrier?

And once I get my new Treo650, How can I transfer my data over to new pda in a painless fashion??

Why do I use a Palm when all I find myself doing is playing games. I remember all my appointments in my head. Still I'm addicted to my T3 and it does house 80 or so important contacts :) Anyone else in the same position?

I have been a long time Pocket PC user and it's great to have found Palm Addict, I guess it's the Palm comparitive to Pocket PC Thought. I've just got a Treo 650 and wanted to know where I can get software like games and utilities specifically for it. What's the best Treo orientated website? PA is great; keep up the good work.

Did Palm1 announce that it was going to produce a Windows Mobile Treo smartphone? The rumor was that if it was true it was to be announced this week.
