I don't know, Linda, I think your opinion is definitely worth quite a bit. I don't generally do a whole lot of revision either, particularly in response to what magazine editors say. I do occasionally make changes based on what they say, but only if I'm hearing the same comment over and over. Often when they do make comments they're pretty general anyway, and sometimes I've had things come back where one editor says too much this or too much that and then the thing is picked up by another magazine.

In fact, I have a story coming out in an annual this fall that was originally rejected the year before -- the editor said she liked it, but didn't have room to run it. So I sent it again this year and when she accepted it she said, "Oh, I remember making suggesting this change and that change and it's much better." I actually hadn't done a thing to it.

I think in the end it's what you think that matters most.
