Hope you don't mind me answering this...I see it hasn't been answered. Medicare Part D is the new Medicare prescription drug plan for which the open enrollment period will begin Nov. 15.

Anyone currently on Medicaid is eligible for it. Seniors are eligible, as are disabled on Medicaid etc. Seniors with EPIC will also be best served if they attend these meetings to learn of how EPIC will be working with Medicare. I believe there is a web site out there that outlines what it is...I might be able to track it down.

It is NOT just for the elderly, however, most of the people attending these meetings appear to be the elderly. The RS had a story about the Greenport meeting, perhaps pulling the text from that into here would be beneficial. Call them and talk to the reporter who wrote it, she might be able to get it for you.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Oh and the presentation is done by either a Healthcare Consortium rep or a county Office of the Aging Rep. There is a lot of info given out and it is limited, so people should call ahead to the number Londa, I believe, included.
