Subject: Could be Hudson????

John the farmer was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers hens), called pullets and eight or ten roosters, whose job was to fertilize the eggs. The farmer kept records and any rooster that didn't perform went into the soup pot and was replaced.

That took an awful lot of his time so he bought a set of tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone so John could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report simply by listening to the bells.

The farmer's favorite rooster was old Butch,a very fine specimen he was, too. But on this particular morning John noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! John went to investigate. The other roosters were chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing. The pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover. But to Farmer John's amazement, Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. John was so proud of Butch, he entered him in the county fair and Butch became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result...The judges not only awarded Butch the "No Bell Piece Prize" but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well.

Clearly Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most highly coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention?

Did you mean this as a response to the "Ethics Question" post below?

Is there a reason why neither you nor Tom - who seem to be so full of opinions about just about everything - have "no comment" on the ethics issue? Can we learn as much about your intellectual honesty by what you choose to try to ignore as we can by what you address? Hmmmnnnnnn.....

Tom -

I ask you a simple question, and you respond with a flurry of insults. That's typical, but it's a waste of time and space.

You have no opinion on the ethics issue? Why not?

If you are really leaving us all to Gene's tender mercies, then allow me to bid you a fond farewell...

But I'm afraid your leave-taking is more like "Hasta la vista, Baby!"

Tom -

you say: "As for ethics>>>You can shout them from all the rooftops and what you'll find there are those who'll find a way to try and cover their tracks by posing as benefactors to the comunity by their P.R.MIND MANIPULATORS"

Are you referring to Phil Pepe and Dan Odeschalci? Weren't they both professional Public Relations persons? Something, by the way, that FoH never employed...

Thanks for sharing your experience as part of HVEEC - whatever that was...

In the political game the players are changed but the game still goes on. Ned, if your cronies are elected nothing will change, just the names of the players, they will do just the same as the ones they are bitching about, only worse. The ethics you talk about are as old as mankind and his nature is to control when he or she has the power. Hope that answers your question about ethics.

And you don't think we should make a distinction between those who have exhibiuted un-ethical behavior and those who haven't? Because according to you, it's all just a matter of time?

That's a hopelessly cynical attitude, Gene, defeatist and nihilistic. If you really feel that way, that everyone is corrupt and to expect - much less demand - honesty and decency from people is hopeless, then I feel sorry for you. Maybe that is how you and those you know are - but there are many people who are not like that.

That is not my world and it is not the world I want for my friends, neighbors and family. I won't accept it, and I'll work for something better.

I believe that some of the candidates who are running for office in Hudson are people of principle. I have no reason to believe otherwise. I have seen their behavior in the past, and I have seen some of them sacrifice self-interest for the public good. None of them are perfect - any more than we are, Gene - but some of them are much better than others.

If you can't tell the difference between someone who makes a backroom deal to take money from the taxpayers in exchange for political gain, and someone who is running because he or she wants to create positive changes for Hudson - that is your lack of discernment and discretion.

Maybe you've just been exposed to Good-old-boy politics for so long that you don't understand that there can be anything else and don't recognize anything else when you see it? I hope and expect that in November you will get a very big surprise.

I've had to remove Tom's duplicate posts in reply to the last message in this thread, which were just twin spews of ill-tempered invective. It was aimed - as usual - at "FoH nimbys" (Surprise!) who are, apparently Tom's equivalent of Invisible Martians - and at all those who see things differently than Tom does and actually have facts and reasons ("Intellectule Arrogence") to support their opinions.
