EXT – GRAVEYARD – DAY
Xander is sat in front of Faith’s grave stone as Nancy comes and sits behind him.
NANCY
Figured I’d find you here
XANDER

NANCY
What for?
XANDER
I don’t know.
NANCY
Then don’t apologise. Were the two of you close?
XANDER
Actually, anything but close. Did you know that none of them have been to see her?
NANCY
Not even Buffy?
XANDER
Spike came by a couple of nights after she was buried – that was in May. It’s almost October.
NANCY
They’ll get to it in their own time.
XANDER
It just seems so… I can’t help thinking that, if I hadn’t dated Anya for so long – would they have gone to see her. Would we have gone to see Tara if she never made up with Willow?
NANCY
Xander…
XANDER
It just – she always wanted to be one of us. Always wanted to fit in but she never did. She was always the “evil or formerly evil girl” on the outside.
NANCY
Are we still talking about Faith?
XANDER
I don’t know.
Nancy slides her hand arounds Xanders and holds it tight.
NANCY
You’re not going to lose me Xander. Not even if I have to become a strange cyborg to stay alive.
XANDER

NANCY

The two of them sit, heads on head, hand in hand. IN silence.

Willow is sat in her office as Rebecca walks in.
WILLOW

REBECCA

Willow moves back startled as Rebecca locks the door and produces a gun.
CUT TO.
INT – OFFICE – DAY
WILLOW
Um… did I give your kid a low grade because, I can change it
REBECCA
She didn’t tell you about me did she?
WILLOW

REBECCA

WILLOW

REBECCA

REBECCA
Oh, I know about all of you! All of your sick little friends who killed my girl!
WILLOW
Are you Faith’s Mom?
REBECCA

(laughs)

WILLOW

(screaming)

(Thinks)

REBECCA
Here was I being told you’re the brains of the operation
WILLOW

REBECCA

WILLOW

REBECCA
Getting faster there! Watch out you might “get it right” me to death!
WILLOW

About the slayers? The supposed Goddess? The Man formerly known as the vampire with a soul? Oh I know everything that went down that day.
WILLOW
Amanda died fighting, you should be proud
REBECCA
You should be DEAD! SHE DIED FIGHTING YOUR FIGHT!!! She was sixteen years old so do NOT TELL ME that she went out fighting.
WILLOW
Okay…I-I’m sorry
(calm)
Please…hand me the gun
REBECCA
How about I just hand you a bullet instead?
Willow holds out her hand for the gun to move to her – blue sparks fly and nothing else.
REBECCA
Second thoughts
Rebecca shows that there’s no bullets in the gun. She throws it out the window.
REBECCA
I think I wanna torture you a little first.
Rebecca smacks a paperweight across Willows head – she falls to the floor, barely conscious.
REBECCA
By the way, I have a little friend working a vengeance spell for me – so don’t even try to use your magic
Willow passes out.
CUT TO.
INT – TRAILER – DAY
PEG
That’s crazy talk!
BUFFY
That’s what my Mom said.
PEG
She knows?
BUFFY
Knew. My Mom died three years ago
PEG
How old are you Bambi?
BUFFY
Buffy. I’m twenty three years old.
PEG
You lost your Mom and had a friend die too?
BUFFY
More than one.
PEG
You expect me to feel sorry for you?
BUFFY
I don’t expect anything from you. I only came here because I thought you had a right to know about your daughters death. Guess I was wrong.
PEG
I have every right.
BUFFY
You have as much right as the next guy who boards the city bus. You’re not a Mother to her – you haven’t spoken for six years and you didn’t even know she left home the second she became legal to drive.
PEG
Don’t you think I tried? It was hard! Bringing her up alone!
BUFFY
All alone… with her Dad and her “Uncle’s”
PEG
Don’t judge me.
BUFFY
I think we’re a little past judgement now. I have to go.

Buffy stops in the door way
PEG
Please…tell me more about her. Who was my daughter?

INT – ESPRESSO PUMP – DAY
Tara, Nancy and Xander are sat around a small table. Tara keeps looking at her watch.
NANCY
Don’t worry. She’s probably just yelling at some pre-pubescent zit on legs for not doing his homework.
XANDER
Willow can be surprisingly dominating.
Tara raises as eyebrow as does Nancy
XANDER
Apparently.
TARA
It-I-It’s just not like her to not call
XANDER
She’s only fifteen minutes late
NANCY
Besides, what’s the worst that could’ve happened?
(pause)
Sorry, I just realised who I’m actually with.
CUT TO.
INT – OFFICE – DAY
Willow comes round to find that she’s been tied to a chair. Her lip is bleeding.
REBECCA
You ever had children?
Willow looks scared
REBECCA
Of course you haven’t because you’re not into the tools. But I do know that you’ve suffered loss.
REBECCA
Tell me, do you think my Amanda will come back if I light some candles around her shirt?
(long pause)
ANSWER ME!
Rebecca tears her gag off and Willow gasps for breathe
WILLOW
Please… I didn’t…I mean, she…
REBECCA
She has a name
WILLOW
(quiet)
Amanda
REBECCA
Say it!
WILLOW
AMANDA!
Willow seems almost astonished as Amanda actually appears in front of her
REBECCA
It’s…a trick…A TRICK! MAKE HER GO AWAY WITCH!
WILLOW
I didn’t do it!
AMANDA
Mommy
REBECCA
(Crying)
Amanda, sweetheart…
AMANDA
Remember when you left town and I said I was going to stay with Dawn, I chose that and I chose to be…
Amandas voice and image fades out.
REBECCA
Where did she…WHERE DID SHE GO!!!?!?!
Rebecca grabs Willow by her hair and pulls her hair back
WILLOW
Stop!
REBECCA
You made her go away! Make her come back!
CUT TO.
EXT – OFFICE – DAY
Spike taps on the door
SPIKE
Red, You in there?
Spike pulls at the handle. It’s locked
SPIKE
Ignorin’ me. Listen – I didn’t mean to give you the peepshow this mornin’
Spike hears a crashing inside the office
SPIKE
Willow?
Spike pulls on the handle again before shaking his head, taking a step back and kicking the door off it’s hinges as Rebecca is about to lower a nail gun towards Willow.
He leaps through the air and tackles her.
REBECCA
You!
SPIKE
You too!
Spike punches her
WILLOW
Spike stop – she’s not a demon!
Spike stops and Rebecca grabs the gun, slamming it against Spikes stomach and releasing a nail. He roars, falling back in pain.
Willow struggles free and smacks a large file across Rebecca’s face, knocking her down and out.
WILLOW
Spike…
Willow rushes to his side. He’s bleeding.
SPIKE
Advantages of being a super-whatever I am. Always heal fast
Willow gives him a half smile
SPIKE
Don’t look so worried pet, not the first time I’ve been stabbed with somethin’ sharp and metal. Doubt it’ll be the last even this year.
Rebecca stirs and comes too.
REBECCA
You need to suffer for letting my Amanda die.
SPIKE
Not to be rude. But we had nothin’ to do with that. She’s a slayer – they die. It’s what they do. It was going to happen either way
WILLOW
Spike!
SPIKE
It’s the truth. It’s life. It’s real.
Rebecca starts crying in the corner as Spike and Willow simply watch on
CUT TO.
EXT – TRAILER – DAY
Buffy exits as Peg watches from the side.
PEG
Buffy!
BUFFY
Yeah?
PEG
Thanks – I know this couldn’t have been easy for you
BUFFY
It gets easier.
PEG
Does it?
BUFFY
It does.
Buffy walks over to the cab parked outside. Peg stares at a piece of paper – it has the address of Faith’s plot. She starts crying.
END OF PART THREE
EXT – HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
Tara, Andrew, Xander and Nancy are with Spike and Willow at the highschool.
Police are escorting Rebecca off of the premises as Andrew finishes wrapping up Spikes bandages

WILLOW
A little shook up – I mean, this wasn’t a demon. This was – it was so real
XANDER

Buffy, Dawn, Willow, Andrew and Tara are in the living room together
BUFFY

TARA
H-How was Faith’s…did it…did it go okay?
BUFFY
It was different that’s to say something. I think I get it more now though, who Faith was – why she was like it.
WILLOW

BUFFY

DAWN

BUFFY

ANDREW
(butting in)
I don’t get it. Not the crying thing, I mean – why didn’t you just magic out of there?…earlier, at the school
WILLOW
I couldn’t. Hang on! I couldn’t! She said she had someone doing a spell – she kept talking about vengeance.
BUFFY
Vengeance?
CUT TO.
INT – BATHROOM – NIGHT
The flashing lights stop as D’HOFFRYN appears
D’HOFFRYN
I suppose I’m wasting my time asking if you’re into vengeance again?
BUFFY
Rebecca and shut up
D’HOFFRYN
Wouldn’t it be more wise to tell me to shut up after you get your answers
BUFFY
You gonna give them to me?
D’HOFFRYN
Ask a question
WILLOW
I think you know about Rebecca attacking me today. Vengeance for her daughters death.
D’HOFFRYN
Ah yes. Well you see – converting her to a demon wasn’t going to happen, after she discovered they had a hand in her beloved Amanda’s death – she was having none of it.
BUFFY
But you put her on the right path
D’HOFFRYN
Oh yes. More than a year and she’s the perfect mortal student. It’s such a shame she killed herself forty seconds ago.
Willow and Buffy look at each other.
BUFFY
I’ll make you pay
D’HOFFRYN
Vengeance talk. I like it. Grapevine tells me there’ll be a lot of that going on this year
D’Hoffryn flashes away leaving Buffy and Willow staring at each other
