Tara sits with Amy
AMY

TARA

AMY
I can tell this is going to be a threatening visit
TARA
I don’t threaten people. It’s not a thing I do.
AMY
Let me guess you “promise”?
TARA
Amy, I just…I’ve heard some stuff
AMY
About the curse with Kennedy? Wow I didn’t realise it was being taken so seriously
TARA
I just wanted to understand what made you do it? Was it jealousy?
AMY
I’m not jealous of her! She’s evil.
TARA
She’s not.
AMY
You weren’t here!
TARA
But I saw it all! You weren’t there either.
AMY
But I was around. I felt it all – I felt the earth move and the darkness rising and it made me sick.
(beat)
Sick that she got there so fast
TARA
You’re jealous that she almost ended the world.
AMY
Yes, no. I didn’t like that she got that kind of power so easily
TARA
It wasn’t easy for her Amy, she’s suffered a lot because of this
AMY
Now she’s back to normal – it’s all good for her
TARA
She’s beyond normal – she’s a goddess.
AMY
Wow, you really are in love
TARA

AMY

TARA

Amy looks raged and confused
AMY
But…she’s weak! She was b…she started after me! This isn’t fair!
TARA

You! This is because of you isn’t it? She’d never have got to this level if you hadn’t been around to push her so damned hard.
TARA

AMY
I’m sorry but that’s not good enough. You just keep making her stronger and I can’t allow that. I have to put a stop to it.
Amy raises her hand and smashes Tara out of the window – down several floors.
Amy looks guilty for a moment before smirking – she picks up the phone and presses a speed dial number.
AMY
Have you got it yet?
Amy waits for an answer but drops the phone as the room begins to shake – a blinding light comes from outside as Tara floats up to the window, bathed in light.
TARA
I am as one with Willow
Amy falls down to the floor as she backs away from Tara
AMY
A Goddess…
CUT TO.
EXT – MALL – DAY
Buffy and Willow are loading bags into their car
BUFFY
I think maybe I went a bit crazy
WILLOW
What makes you think that?
Willow climbs onto the trunk to try and shut it with all of the bags inside
BUFFY
It’s a disease.
Buffy moves Willow off and slams the trunk down while answering her phone.
BUFFY
Hello?
(pause)
Dawnie, hey. What’s up…what? When?
WILLOW
Buffy what is it?
BUFFY
We’ll be there as soon as…
Buffy moves the phone from her face as a strong wind begins blowing through her hair
WILLOW
What’s going on?
They stare to the sky in silence as clouds from thick and dark – dark enough for it to be night.
WILLOW
Buffy?
A smash of lightning comes cracking in between them – throwing them in different directions
BUFFY
Willow!
Buffy leaps over the gap to grab Willow as the wind continues to get stronger, snapping a lamp post.
She lifts Willow by her under arms
BUFFY
Are you hurt?
WILLOW
I’m…okay…what’s going on?
BUFFY
Dawn said something…it’s Amy
WILLOW
Amy?
CUT TO.
INT – SPIKES APARTMENT – DAY/NIGHT
Harmony ties up a strappy sandal and grabs her coat
SPIKE
Are you insane?
(beat)
Stupid question
HARMONY
What?
SPIKE
The wind can blow down a bloody house – you’ll be in Oz before you know it
HARMONY
But it’s dark early, I have to go out
SPIKE
Fine, go and blow away then.
(pause)
Second thoughts, yes- I encourage your being outside
HARMONY
Aww, Spikey you care really
SPIKE
Go out.
HARMONY
(pouts)
Fine!
Harmony opens the door and goes flying into the stairs opposite it. Spike runs over and pushes into the door – struggling but eventually forcing it shut
SPIKE
Bloody hell!
(concerned)
It’s like the end of the world out there
CUT TO.
INT – BUFFYS HOUSE – DAY/NIGHT
Xander is hammering a large wooden board against the window as Andrew paces the floor in a panic
DAWN
Andrew calm down
ANDREW
Oh sure! Hi it’s the end of the world again, everybody chill out and have a zeema!
They stand in silence until the door slams, they run into the kitchen to see Willow and Buffy with extremely large hair
BUFFY
Is everyone okay?
DAWN
We’re fine
BUFFY
What the hells going on?
Willow walks out of the room
BUFFY
Xander what happened to your eye?
XANDER
Got a little visit from Amy…
BUFFY
Amy did that?
ANDREW
She’s really strong! Like super strengthed!
BUFFY

DAWN
She stole some crystals from the museum – there was just another bulletin that another one has gone missing
BUFFY

Dawn hands a book to Buffy
DAWN
Only witches of a certain level can use them – they draw powers from the centre of the earth and charge you for battle, I’m guessing the weather is a sort of backlash from all of it.
Willow comes running back in
WILLOW

Everyone looks guilty
WILLOW

INT – AMYS HOUSE – DAY/NIGHT
Swirls of light have encaved Amy
AMY
What are you doing to me?
Tara throws her head back at the light floods into Amy as she screams.
FLASH
Sunnydale, 2002.
Amy is at the building site for the new Sunnydale High School as she climbs through a skip, holding a torch. She smiles as the light reflects from a gold trophy.
FLASH
Two months earlier
Amy and Catherine (Her Mother) are arguing over an event.
AMY
They arrive in two months! You can’t expect to get a job there and a security number by then!
CATHERINE
Don’t worry about it. I’ll do all the work, you just need to handle the details
(smug)
It’s about time that little bitch and her friends got payback for locking me away so long in that trophy.
AMY
You heard what I said, they always win
CATHERINE
Not this time – not with the power of…
CUT TO.
INT – KITCHEN – DAY/NIGHT
WILLOW
Dawn tell me!
BUFFY
Dawn?
DAWN
She went after Amy
WILLOW

BUFFY
What? Dawn where did they go?
DAWN
She said she was going to Amy’s house
WILLOW
I have to go there!
BUFFY
Will she can handle herself – it’s too dangerous outside!
WILLOW
She doesn’t know how powerful Amy is!
BUFFY
Then Amy doesn’t know how powerful Tara is!!!
Willow goes to run past Buffy as the door flies off it’s hinges – Amy* comes floating through.
WILLOW
Amy?
She laughs wickedly
AMY*
You wish!
Flashes all around as she morphs back to…
BUFFY
Catherine.
CATHERINE
Bet you didn’t think you’d see me again!
CUT TO.
INT – AMYS HOUSE – NIGHT
Amy is huddled up on the chair hugging a cushion and rocking slightly
AMY
What have I done?
She continues mumbling to herself as Tara – who now has a permanent flash of white in her hair, stares breathlessly at her – the lights around her keep flashing
TARA
Sorry about the electricity – I-I had to help you see, Amy.
Amy ignores her until the TV flashes on and a close-up of Amy is on the screen
AMY
That’s me! I mean…my face. That bitch
TARA
You were here an hour ago
Amy leaps out of the chair and is closely followed by Tara.
CUT TO.
INT – BUFFYS KITCHEN – DAY/NIGHT
BUFFY
How?
WILLOW
Amy
CATHERINE
Wow
(laughs)
I can practically feel the power steaming off of you, this is gonna be fun
Buffy charges at her – she grabs Buffy and hurls her over the kitchen counter, crashing into the corner.
DAWN
Buffy!
Catherine gives Dawn an evil glare which launches her backwards into Xander, smashing them to the floor
Andrew by this time has had the sense to run upstairs.
CATHERINE
Look who’s left
WILLOW
Don’t come against me Catherine, I’m warning you.
CATHERINE
Oh, you’re warning me? Amy said you were smart. How did you get so stupid as to think a witch can defeat the power of the stones?
Willow rises from the floor to match Catherine, her hair extends and lightens
WILLOW
I’m not regular witch.
Catherine stares in fascination before furiously tossing a ball of fire at Willow who repels it.
WILLOW
Not here
Willow raises her hands at Catherine and forces her outside, following elegantly through the air.
The two are now outside as Amy and Tara pull up in the car.
AMY
I can’t open the door, the winds too strong
TARA
Try harder
AMY
Lamenté
The door springs open, Tara rolls her eyes – they run towards the fight. Catherine immediately smacks them away with a wall of power.
TARA
Willow!
AMY
Catherine
Catherine spins round and looks at Amy, her eyes black.
CATHERINE
It’s Mother!
AMY
You are not my Mother!
Catherine is distracted enough by this for Willow to blow her down to the ground.
WILLOW
Tara…
Tara nods at Amy
They hold hands above Catherine
TARA
Stones be ashes gone in the wind. Cursed no-more, in debt for sins.
CATHERINE
No!
AMY
Bless thy heart, deathen this song. Bleed my eyes and blind this fog.
Catherine screams in pain as her necklace lights up and crumbles around her neck – Light pours from her eyes and shoots up to the clouds
END OF PART THREE
EXT – BUFFYS HOUSE – DAY/NIGHT
Buffy comes running out with Xander and Dawn as the Catherine writhes in pain
AMY
Mom!
Amy leaps forward, but stops in her tracks
CATHERINE
Amy finish them off!
AMY
Go to hell.
Catherine is frozen to the spot as several police cars arrive.
AMY
God…
TARA
Run
WILLOW
What? No!
TARA
They’re going to arrest her for something she didn’t do! She doesn’t deserve that
Amy gives Tara a heartfelt look. Willow looks hurt – Amy runs.
The police are about to step out of their car as they literally freeze to the spot and reverse out of sight.
BUFFY
What the…
A group of women walk over in long robes – they ignore Buffy and walk straight to Tara and Willow
They pass and I.D card to her.
WILLOW
W.R.U?
WOMAN
Wicca Restraint Unit. We specialise in mental therapy and/or imprisonment for unstable or molevolent witches. We had our special ops team out for you before your friend saved you.
She smiles at Xander
WOMAN
Thank you.
WILLOW
What will happen to her?
WOMAN
She’ll be kept isolated until we feel she’s been rebuilt enough to be released to the public once again.
BUFFY
I don’t think this is such a good idea
WOMAN
You don’t have a say in the matter.
The women strap Catherine to a stretcher and carry her off as the gang stand frozen, bar Tara and Willow.
WILLOW
Keep us informed.
They dissapear in a van as the gang unfreeze.
BUFFY
Yes I … where did they go?
XANDER
Where did who go?
WILLOW
(bemused)
Buffy, what are you talking about?
BUFFY
(confused)
I…I don’t know.
The group slowly walk inside
MIX TO.
INT – CAR – DAY
Amy is driving off through the back streets
MIX TO.
INT ?????
Catherine is in the corner, bashing her head against a rock wall – around her is a green energy field.
Away from there, a group of women supervise as several other women, all battered and tired looking, are operating machinery around them.
Catherines forcefield comes down – she huddles into the corner, scared.
WOMAN
It’s time to join the ranks Madison.
CATHERINE
No…No please…
WOMAN

*This episode marks the first appearance of Catherine Madison in eight years.
*Elizabeth Anne Allen makes her return after a 34 episode absence.
*The scene including Nancy preparing for her obviously delayed anniversary dinner was added after Kaarina couldn't film her scenes for episode four. As she'd been signed for 17 episodes, she was written into this one where she was originally absent.
*Sarah Michelle Gellar was only available for three of the eight day shoot, hence her role being decreased and Michelle Trachtenberg and Amber Benson filling it.
