Europe's main stock markets rose in opening trades on Wednesday after tumbling a day earlier on a sharp spike in tensions between the two Koreas and eurozone debt worries.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index climbed 0.49 per cent to 5,608.50 points after shedding 1.75 per cent on Tuesday.

Frankfurt's DAX 30 rose 0.53 per cent to 6,705.00 points and in Paris the CAC 40 gained 0.38 per cent to 3,738.47 points.
