Is is possible that Hamlet is referring to Gertrude's impending doom in that passage and not Claudius'? I think that is a very interesting interpretation and I hadn't thought of that before. It really makes sense considering Hamlet's track record on wimping out from fulfilling revenge. I would really like to think that Hamlet is trying to be gracious to her, but that seems to be very contrary to his character and it seems more possible that he is threatening to kill her more than anything else.
