I think the whole not turning around bit is part of JB's inability to act, and therefore being condemned to the life he leads. Repentence may play a part, but I don't know if one can even repent at the same moment one realizes ones flaws. It was at that point he realized he needed an audience, so I think asking to also repent at that point would be too much to ask.
