El asunto de si existe o no el alma no es intrascendente desde el punto psiquiátrico, ya que en ciertas enfermedades, ciertas soluciones terapeuticas cambian mucho de enfocarlo desde un punto de vista ateo a un punto de vista de un creyente. El psicoanálisis con la idea de satisfacer las pulsiones como medio terapeutico es un caso claro.
