Subject: California here we come - day 1!

Greetings from West Virginia!

We left Rochester at 8:33 a.m. and arrived in Charleston WV at 4:50 pm - 519.4 miles. Not stellar time, but ok. We did make a stop in Erie to visit Circut City (to buy a digital battery charger, potty break and gas fillup - about 35 minutes). We are here at the Fairfield Inn - in lovely downtown Charleston. Actually it's not a bad looking little city. But, we didn't see much night life. There is a really nice mall right downtown. We had dinner at the Tidewater Grill....specializing in fish...very tasty! The bread was awesome!! As well as nice big salads - Grandma would like that!

We only got midly lost once, took the wrong exit off the highway looking for the hotel. Ok, so you can't really get lost in Charleston West Virgina...but the one way Streets could cause you to go around the block a few times! The hotel is pretty standard. Except the hallway smells like really bad overdose of cheap men's colgne!
