Subject: Trip update - Day 4

Yes, I'm a little behind in the updates - sorry! I'm writing this from lovely Little Rock Arkansas! We adjusted our plans a bit...like cutting our day 4 in half! We didn't get a really early start...we were up too late last night hoping to get a glimpse of celebraties in Nashville! More on that in a minute.

Day 2 we drove about 5 hours to the Smokie Mtns and stayed in Gatlinburg Tenn. We drove through Pidgeon Fordge...home of Dollywood! No we didn't stop. Gatlinburg's main street is like Lake George on steriods. Kind of ticky tacky...but it grows on you after awhile. We ventured off the main drag a bit on Monday, and it was much quieter, nice condos in the mountains. Anyhow...Smokie Ntl park was beautiful. Many many hiking and walking trails...we only got on 2. Unfortunately the leaves had all fallen...but still awesome. Sunday night had dinner at a great resturant in Gatlinburg...Park Place...waiters were dressed up like Park rangers!
Day 3 - drove to Nashville. After much deliberation, and a drive by Opryland (ouside Nashville) we decided to head into downtown. We decided against the first place we thought we'd stay...a little sketchy looking. Drove downtown, and found a Marriott Courtyard, right near some "hot spots" of Nashville. Found out there was a Johnny Cash tribute that night just 2 blocks away. Hung out by the theatre star watching. We saw Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Kris Kristosferson, John Mellcamp, and Brooks and Dunn going in. Then we went to world famous Tootsie's country bar...and listened to music, met some very interesting people...from all over the country and world for that matter! We were hoping for a surprise visit from one of the stars, but no such luck.

Day 4 - We definately stayed up way too late...left around 9:30...and decided to call it a day in Little Rock Ark. We got to the room, ordered a pizza, and basically veged all evening! We decided the Santa Fe would be a bit ambitious for tomorrow...13 hours! Between here and Santa Fe there is Oklahoma City...and Amarillo Tx....Amarillo it is!

Well that's it for now...Shawn is going to try and post some pictures...stay tuned!
