Subject: Back from the woods

Just thought I'd give everyone an update that I am back from the Adirondacks and Ian and I made it out alive. We backpacked for 4 days, 3 nights and there is already plenty of snow up in the mountains -- very cold! One morning we woke up to the tent covered in snow, which makes it very hard to be motivated to get out of the sleeping bag. By the way, dad your sleeping bag worked great, I was nice and toasty even when temperatures were probably in the teens.

It was quite interesting re-adjusting back to "civilization" when we got out Sunday night. Of course a big meal was top on the list right after a shower! (Surprisingly I didn't feel as gross as I though having not showered in almost 5 days)

We did LOTS of hiking and my feet are just recovering now -- lots of up and down -- imagine that in the mountains :) Fortunately, there were no injuries just some bumps and bruises. Also no encounters with bears although they were sighted at a couple of the places we camped other nights. We were very careful with our food and keeping it away from us when we slept.

Shawn, sorry to hear about your ankle I've done that a couple times in the past several months, definitely not fun. Hope it's feeling better soon.

Hopefully I'll have some pictures soon to share on the web.

Laura
