Came upon this website and found the sharing and information very useful. I had encounters with some timeshare companies.

I was walking along Ngee Ann City with my gf when a lady approached us, did some survey, gave us scratch-n-win card and exclaimed we won the top prize and no one has obtained the prize before. She wanted us to follow her to her office in NAC to claim the prize and sit through 45min presentation. We were skeptical but I was keen to see what they have to offer and went with her. BTW, we refused to follow her and told her we are not keen on the prize. She pleaded and said she will only be paid if she managed to bring people to the office.

At the office, one guy sat with us and tried to chat us up. I was frank and told him to tell us what is the company offering. He played his time and said he wants to know us better first. Anyway, my gf and me portrayed as poor and no money. When he began to sell the timesharing concept about holidaying in Australia with first class service, etc, etc... I told him I would like to consider and asked for his namecard. He said he is new and therefore no namecard. He added the promotion is only for the day. From his gesture, I started to question him about the company history, observed the setup, etc. I concluded in my mind this company cannot be trusted.

Since then, I challenged everything he said, find all the flaws in the business concept. He was stunned and asked his manager to talk to us. I repeated all that I've said and totally thrash the business concept. The manager took offence, signed something on the paper and walked off. Rude.

My gf and me walked away without joining the membership and best of all, we collected our prize from LGM. $20 Tangs voucher.

Oh, I sort of threatened them back. I said they have no right to "detain" me and I will call the police if they do not let me go at the very moment. I've told that guy I've committed my 45 min as agreed and therefore, I am liable to collect the prize.

Good for you!! So many others who are attracted to the freebies(greed but who aren't) and put themselves into a receptive frame of mind will easily agree with all the offers of cheap holidays which are only verbal......which I would exclaim loudly..SCAM

Well, my wife and I had a similar encounter last week with another Timeshare company called Oriental Travel. Throughout the supposedly 75 minutes presentation, they did not reveal the price of the membership right until the very end and they didn't mention anything about "timeshare" throughout the presentation.

Their tactics is to use two salesman - one good guy and the other a bad guy (manager). The good guy would get *scolding* and sarcastic remarks from his manager throughout this thing and I feel this is a scam to win some sympathy from the victims. Luckily in the end, we resisted their hardsell tactics and got away with 2 movie tickets. As for the supposedly free hotel stay, I won't even think about it.

Hi there,
I'm glad to know freestyle do that. How'd I wish that more people wil do the same. What a sweet revenge for all of us especially the victims.Let me tell you my encounter.

I am myself a victim of concepts vacation club. These happens somwhere November 2003.One day I received a call from the same company(NAC),saying I've won a lucky draw and the prize is a one week's stay at hotels/resorts in Australia or Miami(USA).I knew it's the same old trick, but anyway I and my wife go along with their scams, same thing-must collect at their office and must bring wife along. So as normal they start telling the boring old stories,I and my wife just look at each other and smile, smile, smile,a jeering kind of sorts. They offer the cash-back programme with all the goodies,we said no! not interested. As usual, they say this offer is good only today and I wont get any offer in the future. We replied No!No!No!-look each other and smile again. Then cam e the second man, nice guy of sorts, tried to psycho us saying he knows we are not interested from our body language,he claims he studied human behaviour and psychology. What a laugh a bullshit kind of thing. So we psycho back to him, since a nice guy can psycho a nice guy....insisting the promise of the draw prize. After much pursuasion he relented and bring us another floor upstairs, something like an excursion for us,he'd actually show'd us the offices, the presentation hall,it really brings back memories. And there we,ve got the prize.......and we left the place...exclaiming in our hearts "IT'S PAY BACK TIME SUCKER".And what happens, this nice guy actually see us home untill the exit doorway....pressing for us the elevator button....it's sure feels above the cloud...having a chaperone accompanying us.

Know what! 5 days after that he called my handphone and said I should take the offer....blah!blah!blah!.I'd reply,...you don't understand english...I rejected the offer...why must you bother me?He said he was wondering why I did not take the offer and risking that the maintenance fees in Euros will increase.I knew he's some kind of stupid,my contract is CVC no maintenance required and stated clearly in the contract if I renew the membership will pay in US $ no mention about Euros or maintenace fees.Don't understand why he didnt get it after reading my contract when I show'd him the time we met. After all the company have my records and they can have access to it.

rgds

p.s- sure hope they will read this!!!!

My hubby and i went to the LGM talk last night , not interested in their membership, but rather to take the freebees.

In fact i was not interested in all these talks, because a 75 mins presentation will end up a 2.5 hours talk instead. when i reach there, i told the person that i have only 1 hour , and he has to tell me whatever he has to say, and to cut all crap.

When they know that i have only 60 mins to spare, they knew i was not interested in the presentation. and thereafter, i told them i had been to such talks and i am not ready to spend 5 digit on such membership and i am not going to commit everyyear to travel because my job nature does not allow me to take long vacation leave.

as such, he did not even present! in the end, his boss told us tat he's not going to get paid if he did not do his presentation. Well.... its not my problem. Who cares if he gets paid or not. And tat Presenter told us he's not a sales guy... blah blah blah.

Then we walked out of the place .. not wasting our time, and yet get a free gift.

Oh ya , they asked us to fill in a survey form. The last question of the form posted "If we can help you save money, are you interested?" that presenter put NO for us. And then his boss questioned us why aren't we interested in saving money? i told him off right at the face that the presenter Asked us if we are interest to ATTEND THE TALK and i also said that the question is not complete! Is the question going to be "..are you interested TO ATTEND THIS TALK or TO SAVE MONEY". so i told them I am interested to save money but not interested to ATTEND THIS TALK.
