Date Posted: Mon, Nov 10 2003, 18:42:14 Hi Mike, Many thanks for the prompt reply. Appreciate it very much. I was such an idiot for being suckered by this kind of "real good deal". On one hand, I am very glad that there is now a support group for common folks like us who have been conned upside down, left right centre by these predators and bloodsuckers but on the other hand, I am so sick and tired of being the victim. There are very strict laws in Singapore, for example, the maximum penalty for oral sex is life imprisonment even though it is a "crime" without any victim but why are these conmen and conwomen still being allowed to continue to openly and boldly con the public and the tourists? This is so ironic when the government is trying so hard to boost tourism after the 9/11 and SARS incidents when timeshare scams are still running wild after so many years, taxi drivers still disappear between 10 pm - 12 midnight and LTA imposed a fine of $5 for underutilizing the EZ-Link card. This kind of nonsense will certainly not bode well to the image of Singapore as a world class tourist destination. I believe that it is now indeed the time for all of us helpless victims to make a stand. Let us unite because unity is power. Can we all come together and share the cost of hiring a good lawyer and sue LGM for misrepresentation? Even if I may not get a single cent back, I will definitely not want another innocent member of the public or tourist to be conned out of his or her life savings by these bloodsuckers. We must be brave, my friends. May the force be with you. Take care. ------ Best regards, Choo Chun Nam [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: Mon, Nov 10 2003, 23:13:40 I am a victim of the LGM's Trial Membership Program for the Concepts Vacation Club which I ended paying abt S$2,800.00 for "NO HOLIDAY" for 3 years. Desperate attempts to book a holiday using this membership is a total disaster. My membership should due Jan 2004 and I was told recently that I wont make it to book a holiday now as it is "TOO LATE". As a trial member which have the least priority for bookings, even if we book 6 to 8 months ahead, we may not get our bookings at all. On top of these, they actually wanted us to top up more money so as to increase our chances of getting our bookings .... ridiculous it may sound, but I still hoped to give them a last chance so that I can try YET AGAIN to savage this mess that I got myslef into ... minimising losses. But after much effort to pursue my booking results for my year end holiday, they still did not manage to get me my bookings. I decided to throw the White Flag and consider myself just too gullible. Final note : Sales Professionals like the staff of LGM should perhaps be engaged by Singapore Tourist Promotion Board to promote Singapore to the world. Probably this will increase our GDP. Date Posted: Wed, Nov 26 2003, 14:30:09 Hi, My girlfriend and her dad are also victim to this LGM scam. Please keep me inform on any updates. Like ccn666, they also hold the timeshare ownership for Calypso Plaza. Few months ago, LGM tried to get them to convert to CVC which they refused to and actually informed LGM of their interest to sell back the timeshare. The last I heard, a few days ago, was that LGM wanted to discuss to buy back the timeshare from them. But we are rather suspicious of their sudden changed of attitude, maybe like what the forum has discussed they will offer to sell their timeshare but at a fee, and there is also a fear that the cheque LGM issued could be bounced. I was present at their last meeting and was really "pissed" off by their attitude and their sale technique. At the same time, it is really frustrating that nothing could be done against them. Regards, Ying Pin [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: Wed, Nov 26 2003, 18:40:19 Hi Ying Pin, Please ask your girlfriend and her dad not to trust them. The best is not to talk to them, even over the phone, in short, cut the communication with them. They will not buy back the unit they sold to you. They had told me this, "Why should we buy back the timeshare when we can collect yearly maintenance from our members?" In fact, the market for timeshare is flooded, many people want to sell but there is no taker. So, don't apporach those timeshare resale companies as well, as they are another group of blood suckers to cheat people. If your girlfriend and her dad attend to LGM by accident, LGM would probably offer you cash back programme which is a new scheme of cheat to con people in. This is commonly used by quite a number of timeshare companies in Europe. You can visit http://www.timeshare.org.uk/ for more info. If your girlfriend is interested in joining us, please register with hcspore03@yahoo.com.sg. Hopefully, these provides you and your girlfriend some thinkers. Date Posted: Fri, Nov 14 2003, 2:49:06 Hi I too was conned into this timeshare scam. They told me that theirs is 'Home Ownership'. Back in June 2000. my wife & I were stopped at Orchard Rd, the tactics were the same, so to cut the story short,.. we were duped into buying the Calypso Plaza for $14,500. They gave me an Amex Creditline application and said Amex gives interest free. Since they said that I thought they might have an agreement with Amex but when it came, it was with interest. They said I can make use of the international resorts (RCI) by December but come Dec, they said I can't since I dont have the deed, week no. yet. The deed came end February 2001. They then seek the maintenance fee for the yr 2000 but I refused since I did not use any of their facilities for that yr, furthermore the feed came after that. Then quiet.. no news from them. Late 2002, received a letter from Australia asking to pay maintenance fees for 2 yrs (2000 & 2002) failing which my membership will be forfeited and my money gone. At that time I was so furious that I was willing to let my money go to waste rather than paying the fees. I ignored the letter. 2nd letter came after 2 weeks... I ignored again. Then a 3rd letter telling me that my membeship had been terminated. Sometime later in 2002 LGM called asking about the fees. Told them I'm not paying. Then they mentioned about the Concept Vacation Club (CVC) upgrade for $6000. I turned down the offer. They called me again after some time and even offered an instalment plan which I also rejected. I then went to CASE. One of the staff even had the cheek telling me that cases against LGM may not be a sure win, .. she says "LGM is reputable organisation". I decided to go ahead to try to get my money back. Case cc a copy sent to LGM to me.. writing very 'politely' to LGM about my problem. LGM replied after 2 weeks rejecting my case saying it was "baseless". CASE then says it cannot continue further. LGM then called again offering the upgrade again. Told them I really cannot afford.. even to pay instalment of $100 per month. Finally I thought... If I cannot beat them.. at least join them (for now). Went to CASE and asked them to ask LGM to cancel my yr 2000 fees. LGM agreed to letr me pay only the fees for yr 2002. I still have not paid anything to date. I have seeked Mestro... they dont do anything. Now I'm stucked with this membership with maintenance fees to pay. And I'm still servicing the bank loan which I used to pay LGM and I;m going flat broke.. mebbe, if I cant make ends meet, may end up a bankrupt. Hope we can all fight them and at least get some/all our money back. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
