Hi, I became a member of ATC through IRN sometime back. My membership costs $12000+, which I have fully paid. Sad to say, I have not been able to use any bookings cos of my work.

I did read that there are some people here who are actually using their timeshare to book holidays.

So I'm actually offering my timeshare up for sale, at a nominal price of S$1500.

It is fully paid for, all that needs to be done is to pay for membership and maintenance annually.

If interested, I will be glad to provide details.

Sorry to hear about those who are stuck with their payments. My story is a little different. I wanted a timeshare, paid for it, and now have no use for it.

Interested parties please email me at merkava74@yahoo.com.sg

No gimmicks.

Cheers

Hi Merkava74,

I have been to both ATC & Emperor presentation. Weren't so convinced at their selling. But for sure ATC has put up a better presentation than Emperor.

To be honest, I'm almost caught into signing up the membership of 12K with ATC as they really break down into details of your travel saving at wonderful accomdation up-grades.

My wife and I seriously are looking into this as we love to travel. But it seems like many ppl are complaining about the services,etc....

So far, have you ever used your memership for holidays before (after paying for 12K)?

If this is really good. Why isn't many compliment on their packages? I strongly believe that after paying so much , everyone would use them rather than keep it as a "white elephant". And if this is really good. I believe words do spread rite?

I'm keen but skeptical.

Good thing that you did not sign up with IRN. ATC (Asian Travel Club)is a scam. There is no such product that they claimed they are marketing. IRN is a marketing company, marketing this so-called membership.

To know if they are genuine, ask these few questions before taking up the membership with ATC:-
1) Who owns ATC? ask for the so-called club telephone no. and try making a call to them.
My answer: There is no such club on this planet earth. The office that you see on the 12th floor with the club's name on the glass door....guess what...those people are all IRN staffs.

2) Get in touch with Hutchinson(a trust company)whom IRN claimed that they guarantee your membership.Ask them whether ATC is under their trust.
My answer: Never heard of ATC and definitely not under Hutchinson's trusteeship.

But you know what?...If you were to ask IRN, the marketer you will not get the same answer as I just gave. You will get all the good answers that they want you to hear.!

For those who have sign up guess what....You will never be able to book your holidays. Consider yourself lucky if you can get through their marketing office. Thousands of complains about peole not able to get their holidays....Of course they can't get. There is no such club called ATC.

They basically they use hard sell tactics, pressure selling and other forms of "Mental bombardment” to wear out the “potential buyer” mentally so that they will sign on the dotted line. Those who travel “very often” would really be able to make use of timeshare. Timeshare is for those that are really into traveling.

I have not come across any “timeshare company” in Singapore that really service your travel request like a valued customer. Instead, there are many scammers out there that are only out to con peoples hard earn money. If they are really that good, why would they be hiding in offices to promoted their "products" instead of having a proper retail shop space like those Travel Tour Agency.

Timeshare is a legitimate product if you but from a reputable company and USE it. In other developed countries like US, Europe and Australia, their daily newspaper have got a section in the classified where people who own Timeshare buy and sell just like our country club membership here in Singapore. If Timeshare doesn't work, why are there more than five millions families worldwide owing it? And the Timeshare Exchange companies, Resort Condominium Int't and Interval Int'l...they are multi-billion dollar companies and even RCI's parent company, CENDANT is also listed on the New York Stock Exchange. You guys hear so much complaints because they bought from non-legitimate companies like LGM, etc. IRN, ERI, Universal, etc are companies that do enrol their members into a reputable DEVELOPER. For those who owned Timeshare that comes with a membership certificate from the Developer, USE IT..you be surprise how good they are. Why throw cold water at Merkawa 74?
Lastly, for every 'unhappy' members out there, I guarantee that there are at least more happy Timeshare members who owns and are utilising their membership...I encourage these owners to write in and give them your positive experience.

Timeshare is a good thing for those that are very into traveling. These people will fully enjoy the benefits that the timeshare membership brings to them. But it is a complete waste of money for those who are not, no matter how good the timeshare membership is. There are a lot of victims here who bought it under pressure selling and most of time the prices paid varies from victim to victim of the same “product” by a big margin.

I cant comment on price variation but when I work for Royal Resort in 1995, they got a standard price and would not even give a $1000 discount even when the potential member ask for it and eventually walk out. During my one year stint in Royal, the price have risen three times due to the good demand at that time. I think price variation in the same company because these people bought at different time OR different size of bedrooms or diferent season of travel (there are three type), etc. You cant compare the price of a toyota corolla five years ago and today. Even the 3-room HDB flat my dad bought for $6000, thirty years ago went up to more than $180,000 ten years ago and now worth about $120,000....all the members I sold to bought with a smile....no gun were point at their heads. If pressure selling works, then out of the 15 couples that came every evening, only about two join...why not all fifteen?

Maybe presure selling is not the absolute correct word to describe it. The more appropriate word should be "tactical promoting and selling". Consumers are carefully lured into buying the "product" through tactically scripted product selling process and exploitation of the human weekness in greed.

The issue here is not about the timeshare concept, it is about the way it is being sold to consumers, here in singapore or anywhere else.

If they are really that good, they would not be number one on the compliant list at CASE Singapore.
