Subject: The Bent Twig

Do you remember the Poetry magazine put out every year? Does anyone have a copy of it? Or the after school program poetry magazine. I went to 272 in the early 80s - had Mrs Hirsh, Mrs Sklar, Mrs Hornstein.

OMG, thanks for posting this. I remember being so thrilled when my poem was printed. I wish I could find my copy. I was not a popular kid and was always picked on so when my poem was printed and my teacher read it to the class, everyone was shocked when they found out it was mine.

Last year I recently took alot of my personal stuff from my mom's house and found a bunch of them. My poem was put in a few of them. I loved coloring it and reading it.

My poems never made it to The Bent Twig"..It's funny, I remember in the beginning "the bent twig" was a real book, then years later it was just ditto sheets stapled together...well actually rexograph sheets that smelled really good!

I believe I have a Bent Twig from 1963! My name is in it, and a little boy who grew up to be a weatherman: Al Roker.
