1970 VW Beetle Drag Car - $5800
It has an Autometer Rev Control, Autometer Tach, MSD shift light, Berg shifter, Mitchell wheels, 1776cc motor, Berg Wedgemated crank/flywheel, Berg notched pistons/cylinders (12.3 to 1 compression), Berg rods, Berg header, Berg hi-torque starter. Ported/polished heads with 48 IDA's. The tranny has a 4:12 R&P, close ratio third/forth, 3.78 first. Body is very clean and all graphics are removable. The car has fiberglass fenders and hood, lexan windows and weighs about 1350 lbs.(or less). The car has run a best of 12.55 at 104 mph and runs straight and strong down the track. Subject: CB Performance Fuel Injection on Type 1

Need troubleshooting advice; I bought a used vw with Type 1, 2007cc, CB Performance FI system. It ran kinda rough when I got it, I've changed sparkplugs, wires, coil (Bosch), oil and filter. It seems to run better except it stalls and dies at idle after warming up. I believe the vacuum is ok, fuel filter is ok; I'm guessing maybe bad intake gasket (occasional backfire and sputter), or timing, also I don't have sync meter, so throttle bodies may be unevenly set. Any advice? Thanks

Subject: Tips on how to make doors removable

I got my 63' drag bug on my car trailer and the bottom of my door hits the fender of the trailer. This makes it very hard to get in and out of the car when loading and unloading the car. One solution would be to cut the fender of the car trailer. Another solution would be to make the doors removeable with some quick release pins. Please let me know if you have done this modification; where did you purchase the pins, and what did you use for the quick release pin?

I'm Making a web-page for my high school class and it can be whatever i want so i was thinking... remember when we had those posts on what is the stupidest thing you ever did while working on your car? well if many of you could e-mail me your stories then the site should be up in a few weeks or so. That way people can visit the site and laugh at all of us just like we have:) The site will probably be pretty plain but i will try to make it interesting, I'll even throw in a few stories of my own. Car includes: fiberglass nose and engine cover, lexan windows, master on/off switch, new base coat clear coat paint, all aluminum panel interior and dash, all instrumentation, new Autometer monster tach and shift light, MSD 6AL with adjustable RPM limiter, push button line lock, 6 point roll bar, new harness, Berg shifter, polished aluminum adjustable front end, adjustable rear suspension, 5 lug drums with pressed in studs, aluminum fuel tank, new Holley red fuel pump with new regulator, newer 6" slicks with less than 10 passes, new 135's up front, dual cooling fans. $4,000 firm

I will sell it with a freshly rebuilt Dave Folts 091 type 2 trans with Berg intermediate and nosecone, 4.86 ratio with non syncro gears in 1st and 2nd, Sway a way axles with heavy duty CV's and a 2054cc(74x94)engine with dual 40mm Dellortos for an extra $1,000.
Located on the east coast and will help in arranging shipping if required.

Hey guys....I need some input on dry sump applications.Scenario is.....Type 1 case .Stefs aluminum tank..Question is who makes a good pump and how many stages of scavenging and pressure are necessary?What is the best location for scavenging.I don't want to use the big pauter pump due to header clearance.I'm just trying to gather some info to complete my dry sump setup and would like to hear from someone who's done it before.

(Firstly, with ref to Ant's posting on the VWDRC.COM board, there aint nothing wrong with another board mate. I'm sure no toes are sore.)

I did plan to get to the pod last Sunday for a first test but I am not happy with the rear end of my car so I decided not to go until the next one.

The back end if my Beetle being a '52 has no bump stops above the rear axle/spring plate nor corresponding 'top arm'to meet the rubber stop. So, I want to introduce a set up to do the job, I need to get a pair of stop carriers to bolt on at the bottom (if anyone has a pair handy I'm interested!) from a scrap beetle and fabricate a limiting bracket to meet it from above.

I would like to know how much travel to allow, bearing in mind I can install various parts from the outset would type one rubbers do or type twos be better?

Does there need to be gap between the top of the rubber and the limiter...or just use the rubbers compression as travel?

Also how about upward travel?

Any advice appreciated.
