Hello Again -- Little_Suc1, 00:11:30 01/21/10 Thu(c-71-57-61-122.hsd1.il.comcast.net/71.57.61.122)
Hello Movie Quoter type people. I was stopping by to say hello and saw the thread WAY down there that mentioned IRL names for facebook purposes. Well in case any of you remember me at all or wanted it, my (Little_Suc1) irl name is Tom Burns. Since there is about 1200 results for that name my email is tomburns95@gmail.com.
Sad to read about MNSANE, I was recently using the internet wayback machine and following links to all the old personal sites of quoters from back in the day. It was fun remembering the 2, 4, or even 8 hour sessions of movie quoting until all hours of the night until we noticed we forgot about the game hours back.
Well anyhoo... good to see your names again and here's some of my little doodle comics as a present.
EXCLUSIVE: 'SPIDER-MAN 4' SCRAPPED; SAM RAIMI & TOBEY MAGUIRE & CAST OUT; FRANCHISE REBOOT FOR 2012 -- Cpt, 14:31:34 01/12/10 Tue(cpe-24-95-76-194.columbus.res.rr.com/24.95.76.194)
UPDATES EXCLUSIVE: 'Spider-Man 4' Officially Has No Start Date As Of Today Because Of Script Problems; Sony "Unlikely" To Make Scheduled May 5, 2011, Release Date
BREAKING NEWS! 3RD UPDATE: Tobey Maguire just released this statement to me: “I am so proud of what we accomplished with the Spider-Man franchise over the last decade. Beyond the films themselves I have formed some deep and lasting friendships. I am excited to see the next chapter unfold in this incredible story.”
2ND UPDATE: Mike Fleming and Nikki Finke have just confirmed that Sony Pictures decided today to reboot the Spider-Man franchise after franchise director Sam Raimi pulled out of Spider-Man 4 because he felt he couldn't make its summer release date and keep the film's creative integrity. This means that Raimi and the cast including star Tobey Maguire are out. There will be no Spider-Man 4. Instead, Mike Fleming is told, the studio will focus on a Summer 2012 reboot from a script by Jamie Vanderbilt with a new director and a new cast. All this took place today at meeting on the lot today. An official Sony Pictures news release about it is expected out now (see below).
Immediately, the news brought celebration and consternation equally to webslinger fanboys who say the reboot plot puts Peter Parker back in high school. There's also much unconfirmed speculation that this new franchise will be in 3D. And the fans also recall that, in 1991, James Cameron wrote a treatment for Spider-Man and now they're wondering if he might helm the reboot. (Sony ended up acquiring his treatment in a legal settlement.)
Here's what went down: My sources tell me that Raimi told Sony Pictures: "I can't make your date. I can't go forward creatively." And, so, once he said "That's it", Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal and Columbia Pictures' Matt Tolmach decided they didn't want to replace him and instead chose to reboot the franchise. Insiders also tell me that Tobey Maguire heard the news in a phone call with Amy today. I'm told Tobey wasn't upset. "He's made 3 great Spider-Man movies. He's done really well. But he's the kind of guy who, if Sam wanted to go forward, would have been there for Sam and the studio. Absolutely."
Mike Fleming has heard that, from Spidey, Raimi could move to World Of Warcraft, or to The Given Day, that terrific novel by Dennis Lehane, author of Shutter Island and Mystic River. Both are worthy projects, but World Of Warcraft is a huge franchise....see the full story HERE
I'm not a happy camper here...Tobey McGuire IS Spider-Man in my opinion...they did the same damn thing with Batman...Michael Keaton rocked IMHO and although other actors did well in the role, I think when you're doing something like this you should stick with one actor if he did fantastic in the first installment...My boys feel the same way...it's for sure that Sony won't be getting a full priced movie ticket from us on this...I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way.

I love to listen to Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN radio. Earlier this week they were debating great holiday movies. Die Hard was brought up. Now, I love all the Die Hard movies. Especially the 2nd one. Mike & Mike bring up a good point on Die Hard. Why does he take his shoes off???
Listen to: Best of Mike and Mike: 12/10
(they do mix in some sports talk - listen to first 5 minutes)
Anyhoo...
1) Does Die Hard have a moral value?
2) Would you consider DH a family movie?
3) What are your top 5 holiday movies?
4) Do you religious watch a certain movie during the holiday?
5) Is there a holiday movie(s) everyone but you have seen?
6) Would you consider Trading Places a Christmas movie?
7) Did you get your tree set up yet?

Someone on Facebook told me to check out Google cuz they had a new Sesame Street logo up in honor of Sesame Street's birthday and for some CRAZY reason it reminded me of when we used to see who could post the new Google logos first on this board, so then I thought..."Hmm, I wonder if that board is still around?" So I, ironically, googled it and look what I found.. And when I got here and I saw the Google contest was still kicking, it put a smile on my face! Good to see some old names around here--dalez, Cpt, Tiggs, Red, Silver, MN... how's everyone? Been a loooooong time... just wanted to pop in and say hello! :)

Surrogates & Gamer -- Cpt, 10:14:44 09/26/09 Sat(cpe-173-88-14-221.columbus.res.rr.com/173.88.14.221) Went and saw Surrogates last night...mainly because I've always liked Bruce Willis and it looked like it might be good...it was allright at best. Movies like this are the reason I don't go to movies and pay $8.25 a crack for me and my three sons when I could've waited a few months and rented it for a few dollars, watched it on our big screen and been done with it....
Also went to the movies with my youngest son a few days ago and saw Gamer. It was allright, the special effects were nice and all, but still, the story seemed lacking. Like Surrogates, I wish I'd just waited until it came out on DVD. Unfortunately, my eldest and middle son had both seen Gamer last weekend, kept talking about it for days and made it sound pretty good (which it was, don't get me wrong, I just wish I'd saved the money on it since IMHO it was only "pretty" good).
Maybe part of the problem with both of these movies is that they were so short. Only about an hour and a half each. Not enough time for the makers to get you into caring about the characters plus the high predictability of the storyline gets kind of old....
