i have a pointe story. it's not really a first time story but it was my first year on pointe in our studio's nutcracker and i had only had my shoes for three months at the time. the guest dancer from the san francisco ballet was there, and me and all of my friends were nervous because we wanted to look good in front of a professional (it was their first year on pointe in the show, too). i had forgotten to double knot my ribbons just that one day, and while we rehearsed the waltz of the flowers, my shoe came untied and fell off!! i had to take off my toe pad too, and throw them over to the side of the room. my teacher was yelling at me in front of all the more advanced dancers and the guest dancer and everyone! i felt horrible and i was trying not to cry. my teacher kept rubbing it in for the entire rehearsal, saying, "make sure you tie your pointe shoes tightly so they don't fall off-ESPECIALLY KATIE!" I felt horrible!!! of course, i can laugh about it now, but at the time it wasn't very funny!!
