I just like music so much that is hard to say what’s my favorite singer or band… I really like rock bands like Led Zeppeling, The Doors, Jimmy Hendrix, Lenny Kravitz, O Rappa, classic music, like Bethoven, Bach, Mozart, Michael Nyman, Chopin, Vivaldi, Brahms, Rap and R&B musicians like Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Macy Gray, Common Sense, Two Pac, Mary J. Blidge, blues and jazz musicians like Aretha Franklin, Gerge Benson, Cout Basie, Louis Armstrong, Jonh Lee Hooker, reggae musicians, like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, MPB musicians like Elis Regina, Chico Buarque and Chico Science. As you see, it is so hard for me to elect one, just one, but because that is what was proposed by the teacher I will elect Bob Marley. His history is so interesting but I will just talk a little about it, but if you want more I can indicate the oficial web site www.bobmarley.com where you can find everything related to his life, beliefs, religion, history, family, and music. As a very religious and intelligent man, Bob songs are about Jah, love, resistance and confrotation. Aware of the instruments of opression against black people he decided to fight against it with the best of himself. He gave his blood, his life and his music to Jah and dedicated his time in Earth to teach, more people as possible, to live in love. With a consistent work he could achieve the hearth of the whole world, this simple man could impact the whole world transmiting his messages of love, peace and revolution against oppression. Considered dangerous to the system, he was attacked several times by the opressors, and more than use guns against his flash they also tried to erase his ideas from peoples mind. In Brazil, for example, we think that a Rasta man, is simply the habit of smoking wid and growing the hair without brush… We came from mother Africa and don’t even recognize it in our lifes, don’t teach this to our children and many times are ashamed of it. While in school they teach us a hole chapter about the “discovery of Brazil” by Pedro Álvarez Cabral, there’s only one line about Zumbi. To don’t talk about the indian’s traditions, which only interest us in the moment of stealing their knowledge. But as Bob sings “ when one door is closed many more is open”, I invite you to to jump a window and go visit www.bobmarley.com to have fun and gain hystorical lessons about rastafarians and reggae music. Peace.
