My favorite singer is Nina Simone. She died last April in France. Her tender voice and her ability to play the piano are still available because she recorded many albums.
The most famous Nina’s song was “I loves you Porgy”. This song became a hit and Nina became a star. She performed it at Town Hall, Carnegie Hall and at jazz festivals.
Her repertoire walks from gospel music to African music, blues, classical music and folk songs. She defies classifications: some people called her a protest singer, others jazz singer, jazz-rock-pop-folk-black musician. But her style wasn’t as a common style. She talks with music about almost every human pain.
