Subject: Reading 3

Instead of starting talking about the text I chose, I’ve decided to begin mentioning how outstanding it is to be able to read the texts made in different formats, such as the story itself, the abridged story and at last, the story outline. In other words, the student can choose which one it might fit best to his/her level. Or even read all of them, why not? By reading all of them, he/she may also be able to enhance their vocabulary and comprehension of distinct texts. Besides learning how they, students, can write their texts too. I mean, they see how the texts are organized and therefore, try doing one themselves. Not only being the Internet a great chance for students to improve both their writing and reading, it is amusement to respond the tasks, since there is even a smile when getting the right response. I myself thought it was amazing. I really enjoyed it a lot. It also motivated me because I needed to see that happy face looking at me. It reminds us, teachers, saying to students “very good” or “excellent”, whatever good feedback it might be. In addition, as well as teachers in classroom, the feedback is given immediately. However, I’m not quite sure whether I agree with that because students can’t be corrected all the time right after they’ve made a mistake.

Finally, I can say now which text I’ve chosen. Text is indeed very interesting and it talks about the links between child vaccines and autism. There is a sad story about a boy who became autistic after having a strong reaction against vaccines he took when he was a baby. According to his father, this problem has been “a living hell” to the whole family and worse to the poor boy. Unfortunately, the numbers of autistics have increases in the classroom.

After reading that short text, I was truly interested in knowing more about this problem called autism, and for my luck I had further information to look for at the same page, which motivated me more instead of me searching for it at some where I had no idea. I did not have, therefore, to waste my time looking for it at anywhere else because what I wanted was right there.

At last, I must say that my grades were excellent because I was interested in looking at those smiling faces…
