Since I haven't tried to keep up with ARV, I went back to Rock, Paper, Scissors to catch up. I needed to pick up on Lilah and Gunn's reversals, setup for the battle, just how evil Wesley is and the sich with Giles and the Slayers. Much other stuff, I'm just guessing at, like Kayla's introduction. I'm still not with the concept of unsired vampires, so didn't understand that stuff in the hospital.
Both parts of the finale do your usual good job of telling the story (with one note below.) The way the evil ones cripple Angel's supporters has good foundation, reasons and exciting battles.
Some of the other things I like are the humorous lines throughout, especially from Willow and Fred. I also like Fred's bravery. She's been even better at that than Cordy in recent seasons and in this series. Kayla turns out to be a great character with smapping Angel to tell what the plan is. Darla's return and care for Connor are consistent with the way she left AtS.
At the very end, Angel goes for what's been bothering his soul for so long - all the damage he did and that his offspring did. It was great to have him choose putting those right over reward for himself. It also works for my polly self that he gets the reward, too, and it leads to a sweet family life for him and Connor. It's great and un-mindwipe-like that they can still be in the
vamp/demon slaying business after that.
The one thing I missed may be just me missing it. How did letting Wesley win the fight persuade the PTB/oracles the Angel was the winner? Perhaps another line on Lindsey's note or the Oracles
instead of
" ... Angel"
could say
" ... the one who {explanation goes here} ... Angel"
Also why did they stop the fight at that point? Perhaps both questions could be answered by a line or three of the oracles' reasoning.
From what I have read of the series, you all have accomplished something here. Readers from both boards rightly acknowledge that and it should continue.
