I think in am in too much debt. How can you tell if you really are in too deep.

I find it hard to pay all my bills and I never know if I will have enough money to last till next payday.. let alon have enough at the end of each month. I have a few credit cards....maxed out...and I have about $3,500 in other debts.
My rent might be going up next month or so too.
I am really getting tired of this situation, and my 6yr old knows I am not handling things well... but I try to not to let him see when I get upset.
Any help would be appreciated.
