Sorry for the abrupt departure. I have been on vacation. I worked last Friday but did not have time to correspond as I was rushing to get my work done before leaving (I check e-mail, forums, etc from work). Regarding the extra dues, I do remember there was an additional fee for “mid-season” membership to be regarded as a founding member although I do not remember what it was. That is the only thing I can think of that the extra $ was for. I had joined early on so I only paid the $50 (actually $100 because I paid for 2 years up front as did several other members). I also have one of the “Charter Member” cards. As far as the “Charter Member” dues, I never assumed this to be a “one time” lifetime membership payment (that’s why I and others paid for additional years up front). I am not aware of any others who expected “Charter” dues to be a one-time deal. The reason is that it was very clear that the dues were the seed money for the club to put towards expenses the biggest being a down payment for a sled as we had expected to have to take out a bank loan for such a large purchase. Annual dues continue to play an important role in the club’s income. The original “Charter Members” currently pay most of this income, as they comprise the majority of the current roster.
