I'm always suspicious of "everyone knows," especially when it issues from a wet-behind-the-ears kidlet like your own good self. Watch and learn, young grasshopper. "Everyone knows" usually means "I think but I have no evidence to support it."

Well, a whole bunch of SaskParty rightwingers decided that Grant Schmidt was a better SaskParty candidate that Bitter Bob Bjornrud. They're pissed off. And reports are it is also costing you some support in neighbouring seats. (Personally, I doubt it would be enough to put Last Mountain - Touchwood in play, but along with Bruce Ritter's WIP bid it may help Serby in Yorkton.)

Let's face it, the real problem for the SaskParty brain trust was that their ineptitude was exposed. They held the nominating convention in Langenburg -- as far as possible from Schmidt's Melville base without actually moving the meeting to Manitoba. Still he kicked Bjornrud's ass. Your party establishment were out organized, pure and simple.

Of course, the other reason to dump Schmidt is that he scared the bejeezus out of Hermanson. Tickle-Me-Elwin can't stand being upstaged by effective public performers.

Your chickenshit leader is deathly afraid of having any strong peple around him for fear they'll expose him for the weak leader he is. He can't stand the good press Brad Wall gets. (If Brad were your leader, my party would be in real trouble.) In 1999, with a caucus that included several experienced MLAs with agriculture backgrounds (Bill Boyd, Dan D'Autrement, even Bitter Bob) he appoints a very weak rookie MLA as agriculture critic. In Saskatchewan, we don't appoint weak ag ministers and good opposition leaders don't appoint weak ag critics.

Yes, I can see a Hermanson Cabinet now. He'll pass over Wall and Merriman (threats to his dubious manhood). We'd have a Cabinet of Greg Brkich and Donna Harpauer. e might even include Allan Kerpan (the former winner of the Hill Times coveted "Laziest MP in Ottawa" Award, who lost several SaskParty nominations before pulling off a win in Carrot River, four hours from where he lives.)

Yeah. Everyone knows.

Care to sell me a bridge in Brooklyn? Or some ocean front property at Estlin?
