I don't hate Reg Downs, young grasshopper. Indeed, Reg Downs is my favourite rightwinger. I hope against hope that your party will keep his as chief strategist for many years to come.

While the NDP's criticism's of Hermanson certainly affected his negatives, it would be arrogant and unrealistic to take all the credit. The thing is, despite your various paranoid delusions, we simply aren't that powerful. The public were cold towards Hermanson because the camera is not kind to him.

The camera has been unkind to several politicians over the years, of left and right. Some politicians can master the medium (Reagan being a prime example). Others cannot (Hermanson, Nixon, the senior Bush).

I've met Hermanson. He's quite pleasant one on one. But he seems unable to project that personality through the modern media. Life isn't fair. Get over it.

Had the SaskParty completely hidden Hermanson (as they did for a while this spring) of course we'd have made hay with it. But it isn't an either / or. They could have balanced Hermanson with "the team." (And whatever you think of Rob Breciani, he does have "name" appeal as a former Rider.)

But for the SaskParty to build their campaign entirely around Hermanson would have been like us building our entire 1993 federal campaign around Audrey McLaughlin -- in other words, stupendously stupid.

BTW, what slander? Had Elwin simply said "I do not plan to sell the core Crowns," instead of the weasel words he chose, we'd never have laid a glove on him. Had he even stuck to the official SaskParty policy of a year ago about no privatization in the first term and public consultations and cetera, we'd have never laid a glove on him.

Read today's Leader-Post article by Bruce Johnstone (no freind of the NDP him) who concurs that the SaskParty blew the election.

Young grasshopper, as much as you would seek to blame everthing outside you, your party must look inwards to see where this last election went wrong for them.

You sound like I did after our disastrous campaign of 1982 -- blame those nasty old Tories and never admit that we might have made any mistakes. I grew up. Doubtless you will too, young grasshopper.

As to SPUDCO, young grasshopper, instead of spewing out your angry rhetoric, why don't you go read the 1997 SaskWater Annual Report. I believe it is available on the internet.

Or would you rather howl at the moon?

Certainly had the S
