journey -- simon yorkshire, 12:22:41 03/16/06 Thu [1]

its been over 20 years now since i first heard journey and so much has happened to me in the meantime. but the music remains as fresh and emotive as the first time i heard it. whilst i accept that the band were consumate professsionals it was, and is, the voice of steve perry that elevates this group to near perfection. i really hope we havent heard the last of steve as a performer , but if so, he has left us a legacy that will last for years,

thanks steve for the memories

I Loved the Greatest Hits Albim -- Claudia Fulbright, 15:32:08 06/14/05 Tue [1]

I've been a fan of Journey, since I was a teenager, growing up here in Texas. The Band has been a favorite and I am listening to the greatest hits as I type this Remembering where I was and how I felt the very first time I heard each song.
Steve Perry's delivery and the bands great musicianship set a standard that is hard to match.
I am still blown away by them after all this time. I am now teaching and telling my granddaughter about them. She wants to play guitar. I hope she is as great as Neil.LOL!
I will always be a fan.

Greatest Hits -- Clint Daniels, 22:49:02 03/05/05 Sat [1]

Someone ruined the sound of the songs in my opinion.
It was not mastered right. It sounds very mushy with no sonic clarity. I prefer to listen to all the originals from there proper lp's. which carry the highs and lows and oh yes the midrange the way they were intended. What was the masterer doing the day this was copied??? probably eating a tuna sandwich and chips in the next room. Maybe it was mastered from 100th generational copies who knows...for some reason which shouldn't have happened This CD lost the clarity energy and sound that the songs rightly deserve. And what is the miniscule "blubbering" I hear in "Ask the Lonely"?? Take a close listen... it sounds like the master mixer was now asleep with the tv on in the background.

"Journey's Greatest Hits" Album Review -- Mike H, 21:11:30 11/07/03 Fri [1]

This album, "Journey's Greatest Hits," will forever be among rock's best! It's the first Journey album I ever owned.

The soaring vocals and blistering guitar on "Only The Young," show Steve Perry and Neal Schon at their best.

The great meaning behind "Don't Stop Believin'" is shown by Steve Perry's soulful vocals and Neal Schon's guitar riff at the beginning of the tune.

"Wheel In The Sky" shows great vocals from Steve Perry.

"Faithfully" is, by far, Journey's, as well as Steve Perry's, best songs. It has great guitar, great vocal and great piano.

"I'll Be Alright Without You" shows a soulful Perry croon really well, and I really like Neal's guitar solo.

"Anyway You Want It" has great vocal and guitar.

"Ask The Lonely" has great vocal and guitar.

"Who's Crying Now?" has great vocal and great piano.

"Seperate Ways (Worlds Apart)" really rocks. Jonathan's keyboard work is OK, but I really like Steve's singing and Neal's guitar playing.

"Lights" is a really good example of Steve Perry's vocal ability. I really like the way he says "Charms" in the bridge. "It's sad...oh, there's been mornings out on the road without you...without your chahahahahms!" It's great.

"Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" is a great blues. I love the rythmn.

"Open Arms," aside from "Faithfully," is probably the best ballad. I love Steve's vocals and Jon's piano playing.

"Girl Can't Help It" is OK. It's from "Raised On Radio," which I didn't think was that great, but Steve can really get that vocal range up.

"Send Her My Love" is a great mid-tempo ballad. I love the vocals, guitar and piano riffs.

And last, but not least, "Be Good To Yourself," is a great rocker to finish off the album, but it isn't one of my all-time favorites. It has great vocal and great guitar.

Overall, "Journey's Greatest Hits" is a fabulous album. It's a really great starter for someone traveling the "real" Journey for his or her very first time. It's a wonderful musical road trip that truly is Steve "The King of Rock 'N Roll" Perry At His Best! Trust me! You'll love this Journey so much that you be wondering, "Elvis, who? Steve Perry's the 'real' king here!"
