As someone who had problems (which were rectified with surgery) with his pulmonary valve as a child (and someone who submits to 5 year reviews involving vascular heart disease), I can tell you first hand that no blood work is required.

A chest X-ray to make sure your heart is not enlarging. As a muscle your heart muscle may build itself up to cope with increased strains, just as your bicep would.

An EKG to make sure there is no compression and it has a steady rhythm.

And a Sonogram, to make sure the blood is properly flowing through the valves, into the chamber, and again out the valves. A murmur is when there is leakage at some point here...

You would not have had blood drawn for a suspect mitro valve prolapse.
