Subject: Please Is there anyone there that can help me

I am looking for some advise on getting a family some assistance with food and Christmas. Right now if I can just help her with food assistance, that would help wonderfully. I have a friend with two children who just left a very abusive relationship and moved here with her children. her husband became violent and beat her so badly she was hospitalized. When she recovered she filed charges and the police are looking for him now. The problem is, she was in a hurry to get out and moved here with nothing but some clothes. She is in the process of looking for work but she has had to file for her social security card, birth certificate and drivers license in order to work and even if she gets it in time and finds work, she still has to swing rent, utilities and car insurance. She has no credit so she is pretty much in a bind. I am concerned because they need so much right now that Christmas is going to be rough. They are desperately in need of food and toys for Christmas. She is in the process of filing for food assistance but it takes a while. She is a good Christian person who's life revolves around her children but I am afraid if she can't provide for her children she will go back to him. She is now in severe depression and I hate to see her this way. She is such a kind, loving person. She would do anything she could for anyone yet can't help herself. We have contacted different organizations and churches but most only help with emergency needs such as electric and rent, or have such a long list they feel they will not be able to help her. I am doing what I can to help but I live on a limited income and feel very bad that I am just not able to help enough. These children weren't able to get their toys and have nothing, so Christmas is going to be such a big deal to them. I can verify her circumstances if anyone knows where I can find assistance for her. Please, if anyone knows of any program I beg of you to please let me know. Any advise would be appreciated. Please everyone request prayer for this family and thank you.
