Subject: More IDA Resignations

The last 2 surviving VOLUNTEERS on the IDA finally resigned. After butting heads with Board Chair Mike Nepple (who is also the City's Chief of Staff -- PAID EMPLOYEE!), they saw the writing on the wall. The IDA is no longer an independent agency -- 4 paid City employees {Nepple, Church and 2 people from the comptroller's office) hold the majority vote. They answer to Venning and the City Council. They are doggedly pushing for 30-year PILOTS for housing developers. The two resigning members vigorously defended a standard 15-year PILOT...At year 16, developers should pay taxes at full assessment...just like everyone else. But the environment was too hostile and it was a losing battle.
Landlords, Tenants and businesses all deserve better than this.
