As we've seen since our incompetent city counsel Michele Kelson has been hired(over 2 decades ago), there's been a steady drop in compliance with rules and laws that can now be termed a test in the willingness of the county, state and federal government to enforce and uphold those laws. They've rightfully determined that no higher power has any interest in coming after Newburgh's incompetence and resulting corruption and are thus ignoring an exponentially growing number of those rules and laws. Those of us involved over those years have been warning of this but the level of incompetence and pollyanna-ish elected officials has only cemented this ongoing issue. Anyone who believes that any one of those elected officials truly cares about this city is simply an idiot. In the bigger picture this is part and parcel to the way our system of government was designed. These people are put in place to make sure that Americans don't get used to anything that's good for their communities because it could be termed as "socialist".
