Hello Travis,

Something I intended to mention as regards the Wikidpeia map and the figures you cite. In gleaning over both, what I see is that it seems to refer to more RECENT immigration, not historical settlement patterns. In the latter instance, the vast majority of Anglo's who migrated to Texas were of western European stock from the older states of the South (Tennessee and Alabama, particularly). I mention this so we do not "talk past" each other on this particular subject...

Also, here is a site which gives some information about hispanics in the "Civil War." Most in Texas supported the Confederacy: http://www.neta.com/~1stbooks/confed.htm
