Subject: Causin' Malice in Dallas, baby!
Yep, here I am in the big D creating havoc. I suppose I didn't want to jinx myself and let the proverbial cat out of the old bag by telling everyone that I made it to Southwest! To make a looooooong story short I'm here and in training now. Week three. Had I remembered what training was like with America West, I very much doubt I would have put myself thru this again. It's like giving birth, yet worse, if one can imagine! You forget that pain, then voluntarily go through it all over again! Out of our beginning class of about 165, we're now down to about 110 or so. Incredibly heart-wrenching to bond and make great friends only to see them go for one reason or another.
Week three and only 8 more days until graduation. WHEW! Found out that my base will be Baltimore, so talk about one helluva commute! But at least I'll have my wings back and will once again have my head in the clouds... (which is where it is most of the time anyway.)
I miss you all much and hope all is well.
P.S. Thanks so much (((aljovial))) for the Top 10 list. Not only did it crack me right up, but made me melancholy too to know that I'm thought of. :-)

Well, it's about time we heard from you! -- Femok, 11:15:01 04/14/04 Wed [1]
I suspected that's what you were up to, Dallas Alice. Congratulations. So what will happen when you are based out of Baltimore? Will you end up there every night and have to fly back to Vegas late? Or will you have to get an apartment there and leave your family to fend for themselves for days at a time??

Baltimore will never be the same -- LLounge, 21:26:06 04/14/04 Wed [1]
... tho' Dallas won't either for that matter. Being based in Baltimore means that every trip that I start out will originate from there. If I have a 4 day trip, I will start out from BWI, fly, fly, fly, then overnight in maybe Orlando. Next day, Orlando, fly, fly, fly, then maybe overnight in San Francisco. At the end of my 3 or 4 day, they'll plop me back in Baltimore then it's up to me to get home to Vegas. There are already about 15 of us that are going to get a "crash pad" in BWI for the times we can't get out or just want to stay and sleep b4 commuting home. (And yea, crash pad probably isn't the best term to use when you're talking about an airline.) So basically, I'll work 4 days then be off 3. But as soon as I can hold a line, I can work as little as 8 hours a month (by dropping my trips) and still have full benefits. Wings are a wonderful thing!!! (((Femster))) Thanks for the congrats, but training isn't over yet. Grad is next Thursday, but we lost two more people today. :-(

Okay, one more week to go -- Femok, 22:54:01 04/14/04 Wed [1]
Hang in there. Oh, and remember to breathe. : )

Breathing is a luxury at this point. -- LaneyLounge, 16:50:00 04/17/04 Sat [1]
If it weren't for stress, I'd be 20 lbs heavier than I was 3 short weeks ago!
Thank you both very much for the well wishes. Only three more tests left (no proficiencies... SCHWING) then I'll be winged. ((((Femster, MyFavAss))))

Thanks mucho, Peejers! -- LaneyLounge, 20:01:09 04/21/04 Wed [1]
Well, along with those 20 lbs you have to remember that stress also causes the hair to fall out in massive clumps and violent nervous twitches to develop Yea, we newbies are a lovely bunch of Inflights, lemme tell ya. You can always tell the new ones because they possess these characteristics... which makes serving coffee more challenging than usual.
BTW, you already HAVE wings, Peej. :-)
