Apparently Paul wrote Blackbird about the struggle of black people in the 60's. The Blackbird referred to is any black woman.

Charles Manson thought that the song Blackbird was portending an uprising of black people in the USA, and figured he'd like to get the ball rolling by killing a few rich white people. He even painted the word "arise" from the song on the walls of some of his victims.
