Subject: A Commentary by me

There is a world of disenfranchised potential movie goers out here who stopped going to the movies years ago when all they could give us was mindless mayhem like, "Friday the 13th," "Nightmare on Elm Street," "Carrie," etc.
The Hollywood elites found it necessary to insult us at every turn by making every radical nutcase and sexual deviant appearing in their movies "Christians." They pushed us even further away from the theaters by trying to force their half baked ideas down our throats by presuming we would buy into all the movies trying to pass off junk science as reality. Man is always going to rescue himself in such movies as "Armageddon," "Asteroid," "Earthquake," "Volcano," "Terminator," etc. or some superman will rescue us from ourselves as in the movies, "Superman," "Batman," "Spiderman," "The Matrix," "Terminator II and T-3," just for example: Or there is no hope and man can't save himself but instead destroys the planet as we know it as in "Planet of the Apes," "Water World," or "13 Monkeys."

Hollywood has pushed the family out of the theater and they've been watching as ticket sales have been dropping steadily over the years. Sure, they make more money because there are always going to be deviants and young people in the world who will pay the hiked up prices to see such rot or some others who just want an escape from reality; but Mel Gibson's movie has appealed to those of us who won't go to a movie theater. He has given us a movie about our faith's roots and while it is his interpretation of the events that actually took place (as was the Ten Commandments and Ben Hur their director's take on them) it is something we as Christians can relate to.

I guess the best draw in the entertainment field is when the viewer believes that he or she can relate to the main characters be it a ballerina on stage, in a race car or in a movie.
Let's take auto racing for example. One of the main reasons NASCAR is such a huge success (it's actually increasing it's following by 9% every year and is the fasted growing spectator sport in the country) is because the spectator can see him or herself driving the car. The ballerina on stage gives the audience member the perception that she can be that beautiful princess with flawless grace because the ballerina makes her dancing look so easy but in the movies most people cannot see themselves as Jason type slashers nor supper heroes like Arnie in the Terminator series. We also don't like to believe that we are so weak that we are going to become the victims of monsters like Jason or Freddie and we certainly don't believe in a junkscience turning us into superheroes the way a "radioactive spider" did Peter.
B~U~T we can relate to Jesus Christ. As Christians most of us know saints who've been raped, tortured and killed by intolerant extremists in other countries. We watch as radical Christ haters burn our buildings, shoot our friends and neighbors and imprison us because we choose to exorcise the same God given rights they do. We've seen for thousands of years the persecution that we as a body have suffered at the hands of the nonbelievers and we will continue to flock to the theaters in droves to see what it must have been like for our Lord to suffer even worse tortures than we do. When we see an impersonation of Jesus suffering for us we are reminded that no matter what the children of disobedience on the left throws at us... no matter how many of us the followers of Islam torture, rape and kill... we are OK and there is hope. We are not alone and we were raised with our Lord and Savior.

Nah, Mel Gibson has brought us back to the theater and if he is smart he will continue to make movies of this caliper that appeal to the rational and realistic thinkers of the world. That's assuming the powers that be don't put the kibosh on his work to soon.
