I know it was falling apart, but I took it hard when they demolished the old Mason Hotel. Too bad the city didn't want to invest in its preservation, also –– a lot of history there.

While traveling back east to Ohio, where my wife is originally from, I noticed most of their historic old places are still standing; places that bring in lots of tourist bucks.

I almost cried Friday when I was out on my lunch hour. They were taking down the south wall. My grandfather worked for the WPA when the old Armory was built. My dad served in the Army National Guard and the US Army, so he spent a lot of time there. You know, it is going to be a parking lot! A parking lot for RCB Bank!

Did anybody ever go down into the basement? I didn’t but I couldn’t go into the armory and not get a ball to fall down those steps; it was always going to happen. Which of course made me wonder what was behind that door.

Creepy things can be found behind basment doors, Mike. Maybe it's best you never found out!
