Everyone needs to experience DC at least once; I have been fortunate to visit there a few times. IMHO, the Lincoln Memorial was the most impressive. When I was twelve years old or so, I toured the Air & Space museum (Smithsonian) which was so cool. I’ve always wanted to go back to see the Natural History Museum. Once 15 years or so ago, I had a layover in DC and jumped in a taxi for a quick early morning 2 hour tour of the mall. This was my first visit to the Vietnam Memorial. It was an experience that touched me greatly and humbles me still today.

I believe that actually visiting these monuments caused me to have a greater national perspective. It wouldn’t hurt me to be reminded of periodically.

Shellie, please relate your experiences when you get back.

Michael

The Lincoln Memorial was my favorite also. I don't wax poetic very often, but just standing within it touches your soul. We tried to make all of the museums while we were there. If any of you remember me very well from school, you know the Air and Space Museum was my favorite. My poor wife and kids practically had to drag me out of the place!
They were just finishing the Reagan Building when I was there. Considering this week, that is very special too. His death brings home the important times we have all lived through.
